An offering pleasing to God - Avar Naamam Yesu - Episode 17
Episode 17 of "அவர் நாமம் இயேசு" ("Avar Naamam Yesu" - His Name is Jesus). From he passage in Mark 14:3, where the woman with the alabaster box is seen anointing the Lord Jesus with a costly ointment. From this event, some guidelines for an offering pleasing to God can be learnt.
These songs are Scriptures set to tune to aid Scripture memorization. The verses are all from the New International Version 1984 edition (used with permission). These verses are reliable and worth memorizing. However there is a more recent version of NIV (2011) which we do not recommend* (please read disclaimer below).
All songs were set to tune by Rampert Ratnaiya and this version of "Scriptunes" was released around 2002 (remix) by the Friends Missionary Prayer Band. Many people put their shoulders to this project. Ashok Vedhanayagam initiated this remix on behalf of Friends Missionary Prayer Band. The various singers are as follows.
1. Caleb Martin
2. Maxyn Kingston
3. Meghala Ratnaiya
4. Mukesh Mark
- The narrations are by Mrs. Grace Paul Wesley and Dr. Clement Felix
- The choral arrangements are by Augustine and the choir comprises of Augustine and friends.
- The Drum Programming, Recording and Mixing is by Josiah Heflin.
- The Electric Guitar was played by Bennett Emmanuel.
- All other instruments were orchestrated and sequenced by Rampert Ratnaiya.
*I DO NOT endorse the new 2011 version of NIV which in trying to be "politically correct" and has serious misrepresentations. When we used the 1984 version for Scriptunes, we found that version to be reliable and all the verses that we have used are worth memorizing. Zondervan (the publisher) is not in Christian hands any more. It is now a division of Harper Collins.

'Kingdom People' is all about people who are a part of God's kingdom. This is not a political kingdom, rather it has to do with people who have said "yes" to the rule of God in their lives. This acknowledgement of God's rule affects the way in which they make their choices, their values and their goals. Here is an opportunity to look into the lives of those whose lives have been transformed by Jesus Christ. In this episode, we have Rev. J. N. Manokaran and Mrs. Manokaran. Rev. Dr. J.N. Manokaran is a civil engineer by profession. Mrs. Manokaran too is a Civil engineer by training and was working for the Government when God's call came to her. They served in Haryana as cross cultural missionaries for eleven years. Since 1997 they returned back to Tamil Nadu to help missionaries and pastors to build their capacities by teaching, training and writing. Rev. Episode 8 of "அவர் நாமம் இயேசு" ("Avar Naamam Yesu" - His Name is Jesus) talks about "keeping the Faith (2 Timothy 4:7) and looks briefly at the challenge from Atheism and explores the Biblical position regarding the evidence for God from Romans 1.
Since the broadcast time is brief, much ground cannot be covered in this topic. I could only show a few scientists who believe that there is a God. based on evidence from the created world There is a huge list of such scientists (including recent Noble Prize winning scientists) who believe that creation points to God based on evidence from science.
In case you have questions, you may want to look up http://www.apologetics315.com/ and search their database for a huge variety of resources. You could also write to me if you have any questions on any specific topic and I could guide you to sources that look into such questions in detail.
