Today I am talking about some phone follow up tips.
These are things that maybe in the past we probably once saw as basic skills or just normal communication and then we got trained and became salespeople…
There has been much debate lately about the sales process, and phone process… and processes for your process.
Fundamentally, when it comes to automotive sales, the customers “buying process,” and the road to the sale, or “sales process” do not always coincide. But, their path leads to the same end – the purchase of a product.
People on both sides, do not want to be forced to follow a method or process that is not theirs. However, they can, both sides, walk down a path together to seek success at the end.
So let’s talk about the path to phone follow up. And, I know there are a multitude of ways to communicate with customers.
Here are a few things to remember when you pick up the phone.
1. Be prepared. Care enough to do your research. You have to plan to be courteous and knowledgeable. Show that you care by having respect for the customers time. You have to have a method that you follow on each call (process).
** Greet the customer
** Get Name, Number, Email
** Qualify
** Set a solid appointment and give directions
** Give my name, number, and confirmation info
** ASK FOR A FOLLOW UP CALL and REFERRAL
2. When you pick up the phone… dial with intention. Have an expectation that the person on the other end WILL answer. And then, begin with the desired result in mind.
3. SMILE! This is so important… because a smile will come through in the tone of your voice.
4. STAND UP. Yes, I said to stand up while speaking on the phone. The reason is that it changes your physiology. Change your method, change your results. Standing changes breathing pattern, by offering better lung capacity and reducing stress on the diaphragm. Therefore better oxygen, better blood flow, higher energy, the customer will hear it in your voice.
You’ve dialed the phone number … NOW WHAT?
There are two things that can happen – 1. The customer picks up the phone; or 2. They don’t and you have to leave a message.
For the sake of this conversation, let’s assume they pick up the phone. Here are three things I will focus on.
1. If I am calling for a female and a woman answers - Say, “Hello [name]?” This conditions the call by leading with a YES response.
2. Do not use the words – “FOLLOW UP” or “TOUCHING BASE” in your introduction. These are two terms you would likely never use naturally when you are speaking to a friend or family member… so when did it become ok in sales?
3. Tell the customer WHY you are

A nearly unbelievable juggler during the performance of Cirque Du Soleil - LUZIA in Denver, Colorado. This guy juggles several pins at high speed. At one point he worked his way up to juggling 6 pins. Very awesome!
This performance was done on June 3, 2017. My wife and I went to watch the show during our 11th wedding anniversary.

Facebook Live Challenge - Day 24
Stay teachable. You should always keep learning and keep growing. It takes work to pursue continued growth and learning. You should continue to learn and grow, from the wisdom and mentoring of others. You may have heard the statement, “Success leaves clues…” I am a firm believer in that statement. People that came before you and saw the type of success you want, you can model their behaviors and see similar (or same) results. Ultimately and simply said, it’s very important to remain teachable throughout your life.
One of the best things you can do for your health, wealth and continued well-being is to learn. Learning without application though is pointless. You should take what you learn and apply it. Take action, learn new skills. Take action, do something new today!
This is an excellent way that you can love yourself and others, by taking action, learning new skills and being better than you were yesterday… kicking butt. Make today and tomorrow great!! Always, keep growing…
Here are a few points on continued growth and learning.
• People who learn more, tend to earn more.
• Through adult learning, people are often more open minded and more socially connected, more involved in their communities and more likely to be active. Active both physically and mentally!
• People who are willing to continually grow tend to invest more into other people and more often into other people (mentoring).
• Continued growth and learning seems to contribute to higher self-confidence. The more you know, the more willing you are to stretch and the stronger willed you are. (This can be both good and bad!)
• Along with higher self-confidence comes self-resiliency. So, when things don’t go your way, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again, or keep going!
One of the best ways to learn and grow… I RECOMMEND READING! You can learn from all kind of books, watch YouTube, “Google it,” or seek out a mentor. Read the Bible today. There are so many great lessons in the Bible. If you are very familiar, then seek out a new Bible plan, and read through it in a different order or method. It may expand your understanding!
Over the years, I’ve found that there is not a shortcut, a magic bullet, or a secret method, it takes time and it takes work.

In this video I am sharing with you, another of the key leadership behaviors is to explain the importance of WHY we do something to our people. Staff members, and actually most people, in general, want to know why it is important to do something as much as they want to know what it is that they are needing to do. As leaders when we show certain leadership behaviors it inspires and grows our people not just because of what we say, or what we do, but because of who we are!

Sean is one of the most kind-hearted humans I have had the pleasure to speak with. You MUST watch the video and you will certainly see why!
He is a great leader, an amazing coach, and he is truly all about raising other people up in business.
When I asked him about the characteristics of a leader, he had a simple and to the point response.
Leaders MUST learn to coach. That’s it. Learn to coach. They have to be invested and lead people not for themselves (the leader), but for the people they are leading.
“Coaching is a language. It’s a way to communicate.” ~ Sean Kelley
We also talked that there are several different verticals and aspects of leadership. Being a student, a mentor, a manager, a coach, a teacher, a leader and SO many more!
Oh, last thing… How does leadership compare to Legos? (YOU HAVE TO WATCH TO FIND OUT!)
You need to watch this to get all of the awesome insight that Sean shares check out the video or the podcast!

The best way is to connect with Sean is through social media, his Car Motivators Group on Facebook, or he said you can call him (No… I’m not listing his number here, but if you watch, you’ll get it!).

I am really inspired by much of the insight that Jairek shared with me on this episode!
Some key things that Jairek shared tonight which I thought were great! I asked the question, "What are some key characteristics that define a good, or great leader?"
1. The psychology of the leader determines their actions. Their psychology and how they view things will determine how effective they are.
2. Transparency. What people see on the surface and the underlying things that are happening... are they congruent? We have to be real with what we are saying and doing.
3. Alignment in making the company a great place. With as much time as people spend at work. Give people a place that they can enjoy as humans. A work environment that allows them to enjoy their life!
This episode is really, really amazing, and I would encourage you tuning in either to the video or the podcast!
You can connect with Jairek in many ways... as he says in the video, you can look him up on most social networks! Also at http://www.JairekRobbins.com or by CLICKING HERE

I have had several salespeople lately refer to "burn out." So I thought I would put my spin on how to work through it.
What determines if you are burned out? By definition, burn out is physical or mental collapse caused by overwork or stress.
Overwork is an easier thing to overcome. And, your work matters. Workplace matters, because if you continue to get overworked, if you continue to see stress - you will collapse.
Thing is, stress is defined differently for everyone - what stresses one person out ignites another person's fire! So the answers here may help, but they won't be YOUR answers.
And the combination of overwork and stress can be a mess, it literally can be a deadly mix. I have seen people that have had heart attacks, strokes, and much more because of stress. You may have to really drill down and ask a tough question - Is it the job, is it the place - or is it you? Regardless of what business you are in, or how long you have been in that business for, I bet at one time, you thought it was the best thing ever!
In fact, if you are seeing a great level of success right now - do the activity I have outlined below right now! Don't wait to get fried, or burned out. Because if you write down the things that are allowing you to see success right now, then you can look back over time and give yourself some really awesome advice!
*** DO THIS ***
Right now is the time to slow down, sit down and write some things down... (Yes, write the questions out).
What do you still like about the business you are in? In the past, what DID you like about the business? Where is your passion and what gets you fired up? What would you do if it wasn't this, where you are, right now? What has this business given to you? And what has it taken away? What do you already know, but don't want to admit? List the things that you were you doing five, ten, or however many years ago that allowed you to see yourself as a success? Once you have the questions that are important to you written down - ANSWER THEM. Write 10 answers to each question... it gets tough.
You will have to mentally recap, maybe meditate and put yourself back there.
You must know what you are looking for BEFORE you decide that a new career or even a new environment is right for you. This takes time. You can do it in a day or two, maybe three. I would encourage you, ask those questions and push hard to physically write down like 10 answers to each question. Write down other things you didn't think of. You'll likely get a solid few pages of good advice that no one else can provide because you know you, far better than anyone else you could ask.
