RESTORATION PROCESS
I always start with WD40 rust remover. Just to loosen things up. The inner case was stuck in the zippo bottom case as usual, so I had to use fire and hammer to loosen these two parts apart. I washed the inner / outer case with soap and alcohol and found beautiful inscriptions on the lighter.
The inner case was damaged so I had to repair it with some heat treatment. I used homemade mini cups (as usual) to clean up small pieces. I cleaned the inner lighter in the sandblaster with low air pressure and used white untreated aluminum oxide.
I heat treated the inner Zippo case to get a beautiful brown Matte army color. I polished the case and lid on the blank mirror and attached the Red Cross doctor of war badge.
