Album name: Undertow
Track name: 02 - Prison Sex
Released: April 6, 1993
Recorded: October–December 1992
Studio: Sound City Studios, Van Nuys, California, Grandmaster Studios, Hollywood, California
Genre: Alternative metal, progressive metal
Length: 69:13

Producer: Sylvia Massy, Tool
"Prison Sex" is a song by American rock band Tool. Frontman Maynard James Keenan wrote the lyrics. The song was released as their second single from their debut studio album Undertow. The song uses a modified drop-B tuning. The track features an "anti-climax" coda, in which memorable verses and choruses dissolve into an unrelated, quiet final section.
With the release of the 1993 single "Prison Sex" and its music video, directed and created by Adam Jones, MuchMusic called the band into question by deeming the video too graphic and offensive, later running an episode of its Too Much 4 Much series to discuss the video.
MTV stopped airing the "Prison Sex" video after a few viewings due to its symbolism depicting the sensitive subject of child abuse. Maynard James Keenan, who wrote the lyrics, has been quite clear in concerts about his dislike for his stepfather.
Before a live performance of "Prison Sex" on November 29, 1996 in Montreal, Quebec, Keenan stated: "This song is about recognizing, identifying, the cycle of abuse within yourself. That's the first step of the process: realization; identifying. The next step is to work through it. But, this song is about the first step in the process, which is recognizing."
Undertow is the debut studio album by American rock band Tool, released on April 6, 1993, by Zoo Entertainment. Produced by the band and Sylvia Massy, it was recorded from October to December 1992 at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys and Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood. The album includes some tracks the band decided to not release on their debut EP Opiate. This is their only album to feature original bassist Paul D'Amour.
According to AllMusic, Undertow helped heavy metal music remain prominent as a mainstream musical style, and allowed several later bands to break through to the mainstream. It was released at a time when grunge was at the height of its popularity, and pop punk was slowly beginning to gather mainstream attention.[4] AllMusic saw the album's success in the "striking, haunting visuals that complemented the album's nihilistic yet wistful mood."
As of 2020, Undertow has sold over three million copies in the United States, and is certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

I remember very well when i arrived to Auckland, NZ back in 2011. Having convos with Mark about auditioning for guitar. I was 2hrs away from auditioning into this amazing band. Guess this will be my tribute and late audition to the band. ;)
Frozen Alice is a four-piece progressive rock-group based in Auckland. They are made up of three former members (Mark, Ozzy and Ryan) of Remains of a Day; a six piece metal band they played in since early 2004. With a change of direction and the addition of a new bass player Billy they officially became Frozen Alice in April 2009.
What followed was an amazingly successful year playing several shows across NZ and Australia and recording their debut album The Torino Scale with Zorran Mendonsa at The Green Room, Auckland. Zorran has worked with many of New Zealand's underground music champions including Subtract, 8 foot Sativa, New Way Home, Solstate and many others.
Frozen Alice's style of progressive rock is described by the band as 'Bipolar rock' or 'feel rock', "Sometimes hard, sometimes soft, but always with 'feel'". The term 'Bipolar rock' refers to a striking feature of many of their songs - Mark Tronson's ability to quickly switch from powerful and aggressive vocals back to a more melodic singing style.
