Hawaii in the past months you have witnessed a period of blatant and sustained violation of the personal liberty of every man woman and child in our State. The Governor and Mayor's of our State criminalized normal healthy activity. For a time it was a criminal act for a man and wife, or a mother and daughter to sit together on the beach. We were told this was done with in the name of "public health", to keep us safe. Our Honolulu Police Department was given 4-wheelers to be able to scour our coasts for violaters and cite or arrest them as appropriate. At almost exact same time the elderly veterans in a state run care home began to die, presumably they had not been down to the ocean. The State's own contact tracing was exposed as an absolutely mismanaged failure. Public health has likely not been protected when citizens are herded and controlled by the fear of arrest or fines. The sacrafice of liberty was a poor exhcange for the illusion of safety. The Legislature, our State Representatives and Senators could have quickly intervened by changing the law or by a unified Statement that no crisis is grave enough to assert any sustained nullifcation of our Constitution. The Legislature by design, is empowered to act as balance to Executive Power - it failed. Part of that failure can be attributed to the corrupt single party political system that exists in Hawaii. Your elected officials with few exceptions work not for the people, but for the machinery of the Democratic Party.
