It is somewhat ironic that the most beautiful and enjoyable places to travel to are generally the ones that haven't been damaged by tourism, and countries that were once the perfect place to visit are now on our list of Places NOT To Travel in 2021!
1. Dubrovnik, Croatia
After gaining fame for being a filming location for "Game of Thrones" and also thanks various social influencers, Dubrovnik has become a veritable tourism hotspot making it one of our, tourism "not"spots. Its overcrowded and no longer has the feel of a "hidden paradise" and considering that Croatia has so many beautiful seaside towns, why choose this one?
2. Switzerland
Switzerland has always been a popular tourist location, its beautiful, not overcrowded, and has good cheese and amazing chocolate, what more could you want? Well while Switzerland certainly isn't lacking, it is expensive! and cheaper options like Slovenia will give you a lot more! for a lot less!
3. Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon gained popularity as a viable alternative to the crowded Barcelona, but nowadays it too has become a little too touristy. Luckily Lisbon isn't the only jewel in Portugal's crown, Coimbra and Aveiro and both stunning, with the later being known as Portugal's version of Venice!
4. Kanpur, India
Kanpur has been a big tourist favorite for years and still is! but not without consequence. Kanpur relies heavily on industry and Kanpur leather is famous worldwide, but this, in addition to over population and vehicle emissions has caused air pollution problems within the city. so its probably best to avoid Kanpur next year.
5. North Korea
Although beautiful there are some places on this earth that ethically are best not to visit! If you think that the money you spend here will go towards a dictatorship and the possible oppression of millions of people it kinda puts a downer on your vacation plans!
6. Hallstatt, Austria
"The snow shines bright on the mountains at night, not a footprint to be seen. In this kingdom of isolation, tourism is the queen. Hallstatt was the inspiration for Arendel in the frozen films and since then it has been flooded with tourists. If you don't like crowds and this was one of your travel options for 2021 its probably best to "let it go!"

Its easy to see why this quaint town has become so popular, its beautiful white and blue houses and tight streets make it something very special, unfortunately, tight streets and thousands of tourists means you'll be queuing just to walk down the street. add the fact that its majority trade is souvenirs and you'll find yourself feeling like you're just queuing up in a rather extravagant gift shop.

Rip Currents are channels of fast-moving water returning back to the sea from the shore.
If you're out swimming and you get caught in a rip current there are ways of escaping it and getting safely back to shore but the best way of escaping a rip current is to avoid getting caught up in it in the first place.
Over 100 deaths a year in the US are attributed to rip currents and they also account for over 80% of rescues made by lifeguards.
Knowing how they work and what to look out for is crucial in being able to identify and avoid them.
1. Darker water.
Rip currents typically form at breaks in sand bars (also known as breaker bars) and also near structures like jetties, piers, or headlands.
Waves push water to the shore, this water then needs to return to sea, if there are breaks in the sand bar, the water can return through the break, this flow of water will naturally dig out a deeper channel and so one way to identify a rip current is to search for a darker channel of deeper water.
2. Calmer water.
The waves coming into shore will be hitting the sand bar and breaking, the water returning to sea will not. This means that the rip current will appear like a calmer area of water with fewer breaking waves, although the surface may seem to churn and swirl because of the different directions of water flow.
3. Dirtier Water.
Just as breaking waves push sand and debris onto the beach, the rip current drags sand and debris from the shore as it returns to the sea. This means that the rip current will appear clouded with sand or have foam, seaweed or other debris on its surface.
4. Tips before you swim.
Rip currents may not show all of these details we've talked about at one time, you may only be able to identify one or two, so spend time studying the sea and identifying possible rip currents before you go in. If the beach has lifeguards, ask them about rip currents and other dangers.
5. Relax.
Rip currents won't drown you, fatigue will. Rip currents don't pull you under, they pull you out. Don't fight them, they are stronger than you, instead, swim with the flow and try to make your way to the breaking waves to the side of the rip current, once you're in the breaking waves you can use them to take you back to shore.

In recent weeks, the South American nation of Venezuela has been embroiled in a conflict that’s spilled onto the streets. But how did the nation get to this point?
1. It's Is Partly OPEC’s Fault
Up until recently, Venezuela wasn’t doing too bad as a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Then, OPEC produced too much oil and gas and the prices plummeted internationally.
2. Venezuela Needs Oil to Survive
He may be one heck of an oppressive socialist dictator, but Nicolás Maduro has no clue how to diversify an economy. And now that the oil cash is slowly drying up, The economy of Venezuela is tanking something fierce.
3. Venezuela’s Decline By the Numbers
Venezuela’s gross domestic product has dropped by one-third. Even worse, the citizens are seeing the brunt of that hardship, being forced to endure a thousand percent inflation.
4. Basic Goods Have Gone Missing
It’s increasingly difficult to import goods into the country. After all, if your currency is worthless, you have to spend way more money to get way less stuff. As a result, products like food, medicine, and other basics have essentially vanished from store shelves.
5. The Average Venezuelan Is Now Both Hungry and Poor
Some measurements put the number of poverty-stricken Venezuelan citizens in excess of 70 percent. Fortunately for Maduro (and unfortunately for Venezuela’s people), the country’s Supreme Court has overturned every legislative attempt by the opposition to set things right.
6. An Attempt to Take Down Maduro
In 2016, the opposition used its advantage in the National Assembly to try and institute a recall election aimed at ousting President Nicolás Maduro. Maduro had his loyal judiciary simply cancel the petition.
7. Shutting Down the National Assembly
The Maduro-loyal Supreme Court nullified the National Assembly and assumed all legislative powers within the country.
8. The Thin Veneer of Democracy
Nearly two years of legislative efforts have resulted in the Venezuelan people seeing only decline in spite of every attempt to play by the rules. All of a sudden, Nicolás Maduro is looking more and more like a dictator.
9. The Problem with the Army
While Maduro’s Supreme Court works to suppress the opposition, Venezuela’s armed forces have remained largely unmoved. That's because a big portion of the army is corrupt. and another is loyal to Maduro
10. Taking to the Streets
The opposition have pledged to protest peacefully until they can get their message across. The authorities in Venezuela attack the protestors although some protestors remain persistent in their desire to loudly (and peacefully) protest their government.

Dubai, the land of glitz, glamour, and awe-inspiring architecture, is also famous for its strict laws and regulations. You should be aware of some things that could get you thrown in jail and ruin your vacation:
1) Non-payment of debts
I know what you're thinking; "I just won't get into debt. Easy." But now think; you're at a restaurant, you've run up a big tab... But you've left your wallet in your hotel room. Guess what? Now you're in debt and can be thrown in jail!
2) Drugs
Obviously, drugs are a huge no-no in Dubai, but even prescription drugs that are legal in other countries can be considered illegal, especially if they contain controlled substances. So make sure to take your prescription as well, unless you want to spend time in the slammer.
3) Public indecency
Another easy one to avoid, right? Wrong! Just kissing your partner is a public display of affection which could be considered an offence! Also, like most Arabic countries, the bar for what could be considered indecent exposure, is considerably higher than what you'd expect! If you're planning on showing some skin, hit up a private beach or pool instead.
4) Cybercrime
Right. I'm DEFINITELY not going to commit a cybercrime, whilst in Dubai. Perhaps not hacking or online fraud, but spreading false information or rumors are all considered cybercrimes. The Dubai authorities monitor online activities closely, so just Tweeting a rumour that you've heard about a local tourist spot could lead to some serious trouble.
5) Alcohol
Yes, alcohol is available in Dubai, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's a free-for-all. The usual rules apply and can result in fines, imprisonment, or deportation. But remember that the legal drinking age is 21 years old, so if you're underage, you'll have to wait a few more years to party it up in Dubai.
6) Swearing or Offensive Gestures
Making offensive gestures or using profanity, especially towards government officials or police, is considered a serious offence in Dubai. So, if you're feeling angry, take a deep breath and try to keep your cool.
7) Insulting Islam
Insulting Islam or the UAE is also a big no-no, so be mindful of cultural sensitivities and avoid any behaviour that may be considered disrespectful.
8) Prostitution
Okay, there's no way I'm going to be doing this one. Maybe not. but just remember that it's not just the worker that could wind up in jail. If you were planning on living out your Pretty Woman fantasies, think again.
Remember, what may be legal in your home country may not be legal in Dubai. So, be sure to do your research before your trip and avoid any activities that may land you in hot water. Otherwise known as JAIL!

You store all your reservations and tickets on your phone. Wrong! Print a backup as you never know when a dead battery, bad Wi-Fi or other glitch will cut you off.
