Can anyone advise on what this is and ideally, how I can fix it? Happens on all inputs (in this case, S video) and only happens when the image is brightly coloured. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp4xNMEtGuA
Into the 4:06 range (despite the bump on Milky Way). There is further shavings to be had though.... Not ruling 4:05"xxx out of the realms of possibility....

Lets take a closer look for that Testerossa, shall we...? You'll encounter a few of them in the demo as rival cars in stages 2 and 3. The absolute earliest you'll see one is over the hump on the bridge as the first course only features novice cars (365/4 Daytona and Dino 246). Stages two and three features F50's, 288GTO's and the lovely original Testerossa. And, if you are fast enough, one F40 right before the finish line. In the full games, Enzo's don't make their presence felt until the 4th stage (on Route 1 at least)
Fun fact, there is no track either in the game, in any of the missions or in anything in later Outrun games which gives you this combination, and finishing point, of tracks.

From the Japan only Playstation 2 game Outrun 2SP. Game supports logitech FFB wheels and is great with it. With the dualshock, not so much. Aside from the hopeless analog stick positioning (which somehow persists to this day even with PS5), the deadzone on said stick is gigantic which makes precision line holding especially tough. And on top of that, no rumble makes feeling the road tougher. Wish I still had my wheel setup.
As for this run..... meh. I liked my Tulip garden but overall, multiple errors and general untidiness Should be able to trim 1-2 seconds off this but probably not on PS2 without a wheel.

Original video is only 30fps thanks to youtube not offering 480p60 so had to try and get a 720p up.

I think there's a bit more time to save here. Probably a good 2 seconds if I had a wheel and with some tighter cornering on my part.
Recorded at 480P via component on original Xbox with a complicated setup thanks to this NEC V461 monitor.

Big improvement on my previous time and the current world record. There's a few seconds to trim off this though (sub 13 mins is not off the table I suspect)
