“Anthem of the Seas” estabelece novo máximo de passageiros pós-pandemia
"Anthem of the Seas" establishes a new maximum of passengers after the pandemic
In a week of remarkable movement of tourism ships in almost all ports of the Region, docked this morning, at the Portas do Mar Cruise Terminal, the "Anthem of the Seas", one of the largest cruise ships that have ever visited the archipelago. This visit results from an 11-night transatlantic itinerary, which started in New York, heading to Southampton. Besides Ponta Delgada, the Royal Caribbean ship also has scheduled stops in the ports of Cherbourg and Le Havre.
With a length of 347 meters, a breadth of 48 meters, and a draught of 8.8 meters, it has a gross tonnage of 168,666 tons and a maximum speed of 22 knots. With a maximum capacity for 4900 passengers and 1500 crew, it has 16 passenger decks, where the 2090 cabins are distributed.
This trip is being made by 3867 passengers, a record close to the best mark established in Azorean ports, by a single ship, when, in May 2019, the "Norwegian Epic" visited Ponta Delgada with 3969 guests, establishing, then, the benchmark to date. This situation is, at the same time, revealing the growing normalization that the sector has been registering, with occupancy rates reaching similar levels to the values prior to 2020.
Also this Sunday, May 7, marks the return to the Azores of the "World Voyager". The ship of the well-known shipowner Mário Ferreira, is making in the archipelago the first of two cruises scheduled for this month of May. It arrived early in the morning and docked at pier 10 of the Port of Ponta Delgada.
From the same shipowner, but in the city of Horta, we point out the call of the "World Explorer", which thus joins the "Hanseatic Spirit", in an interesting day for the Faial port with two cruise ships docked, one at the Terminal and the other at Pier Alfa.
Note that the three expeditionary ships should accomplish 32 of the 45 calls scheduled for this month, or more than 70% of the total, synonymous with the attractiveness that these islands represent for that niche market.
