I'm constantly looking for better and more innovative ways to manufacture our parts. Quality cannot be sacrificed in the name of speed. My philosophy is to manufacture perfect components, even if it takes more time.
Luckily, with these new cutting tools, quality goes up and time goes down. Everyone wins!
The first tool is an AB Tools PT480-90H-3FL
It isn't listed on their website but if you give them a call, they'll ship one right out.
http://www.abtoolsinc.com/I'm holding this tool with an SK16 Collet from Curtis over at the Toolsource.
When using a tool that cuts so many angles at once, concentricity is paramount. I've found that the SK holders have greater gripping strength than an ER collet and as well as decreased TIR.
Curtis can be reached at latheinserts.com
The second tool is a 5/32" solid carbide coolant thru drill from Maritool.com
The price I quoted in the video was way off. The drill is only $50
Let me know what you think!
