It's a meaby little bit of a matter of taste, but mostly a matter of wrong expectations?

***"Garbage"*** is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin. All four members are involved in songwriting and production.
A native of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Vig learned to play piano as a child and drums as a teenager. After leaving college, he met future bandmate Erikson in the band ***"[Spooner](https://cutt.ly/NbBxPnj)"***.
But the ***"Garbage"*** become ***"Garbage"*** when band's door opens for Manson, who kicked off her music career at a young age, joining rock band ***"[Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie](https://cutt.ly/YbBcc7E)"***, and alt-rock foursome ***"[Angelfish](https://cutt.ly/2bBcQTI)"***. After a couple auditions, she formally joined ***"Garbage"*** as their lead singer in August 1994.
More diverse than their first two studio albums, musically more melodic and lyrically more direct, the band’s third album, ***"Beautiful Garbage"*** featured electronica fused with contemporary hip hop, with influences coming from 1980s new wave to 1960s girl groups.
***"Garbage"*** slogged through the trenches of alt-rock in the '80s, and they came together at the precise moment in the '90s when they could fashion modern-sounding music consciously picking up anything sonically interesting in the underground, crafting them together with skill and a keen commercial eye.
On their third record it's all more evident because of a more shiny, more sugary, and unabashedly pop coating.
It's unlikely to storm the charts like their first two records, especially since there aren't standout singles like on the earlier albums, but overall the record works better, perhaps their best album.

***"Cocteau Twins"*** was a Scottish band active from 1979 to 1997. The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often abandon recognisable language, than on the subjective sounds and textures of verbalized emotions. They pioneered the 1980s alternative rock subgenre of dream pop.
***"Four-Calendar Café"*** is the seventh studio album by ***”Cocteau Twins”***, released on 18 October 1993 on ***”[Fontana](https://cutt.ly/5vKBAq9)”***. It distinguishes itself from the rest of the Twins' albums in two major areas: the sound is much more pop-oriented and less ambient than previous works, and vocalist Elizabeth Fraser's lyrics are more intelligible than usual.
The album, which proved to be quite illustrative of the period: programmed drum loops, spoon-fed melodies and a shift towards the "adult-alternative" style that flourished in the decade. they made an entirely placid album that didn't quite offer the same dizzying euphoria as its predecessors.
Musically the songs have a winding sound to them and the album seems to fit so many sounds and styles into a consistent mood. Few of the songs sound like would-be music on a future planet where time moves slower and less heavily, but very grounded by their subject matter and still very human.
