In 1982, the Thai government completed the Ratchaprapha Dam, which contains the 165 square kilometer Chaew Lan Lake inside the park. The dam provides electricity for the south of Thailand and the lake is a major tourist destination. With trekking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and three caves to explore, there is no shortage of things to do. Khao Sok National Park is home to 200 species of trees, Asian elephant, tiger, leopard, wild boar, Malayan tapir, Asian elephant, sambar deer, pig-tailed macaque, langur, white handed gibbons and various species of deer. The park is also the home to the parasitic Rafflesia flower.
