I made a timelapse of my blooming orchid. I had a bunch of new buds ready to go. I had my camera setup for a full seven days capturing this sequence. I was worried I was going to run out of time, as the holidays were rapidly approaching, but I got lucky; the day before I had to leave for christmas, and the whole thing opened up! Back in 2005 and 2006, Brad Blucher and Kyle Clements would invite some friends over for weird sound art performances at our home studio, dubbed 'Headless Studios'. A basement living room with thick carpet on the floors, soft couches everywhere, drop ceiling tiles,, and even fabric-lined walls. In short, the acoustics of this room were too perfect to *not* turn it into a recording studio. We would have recording sessions called "Braps", where we would create noises in free and uninhibited ways with no pre-planning, usually relying on extreme exhaustion to get us loosened up. After creating some accompanying visuals, I posted these 'Braps' to YouTube about a year ago. Today, I finally got around to watching them with my collaborator, Brad. I want to give my hedgehog a special treat for being so darn cute. Mealworms have been unavailable at the local pet store lately, but I did find a package of freeze dried duck liver, and I remember my little cactus hamster really loving this stuff last time he tried it. I think he remembered, since he started sniffing the air excitedly the instant I opened the package. I hiked down to Grenadier Pond at the South end of High Park to record the very last sunset of 2021. It was cloudy, so I didn't really get much of a sunset. Oh well, I tried.
