LPIC 1 - 81 - 110.3 (1/3) - Securing data with encryption; Key Pairs (Public & Private) and SSH
Last Part of LPIC1, exam 102, version 500 is about Encryption. In the first part we will learn about the concept of the Key Pair Encryption (Also known as Public / Private key encryption). Then we will see how SSH uses thess and what happens if a key (and its fingerprint) is changed on a server. Later we will create our own key pairs using the ssh-keygen command and will use them to login into the servers without providing our passwords. A quick review on the ssh-agent, will close this part.

In this challenge from Davinci CTF 2022; we have a pcap file with around 100 ICMP requests and responses and as always we are looking for a flag. Can it be in the payload? we will check... but its deeper.
I will use wireshark / python & scapy to investigate the pcap file.

While studying the vim editor's test cases, I saw a command with a strange name; smile. Tested it and it was fun. Decided to study the source code of the vim to see how it works and then tried adding my own command to this superb editor; just for fun and practicing my C. We will see how professional programmers code, how we can compile that code and how we can even add to it.

LPIC 1, 027, 103.2, Process Text Streams Using GNU TextUtil filters, Part 4/4.
On the 103.2 section, we will use gnu textutils to view, filter and modify text streams. In the last part, we will see the 'wc' command to count the lines (enters or paragraphs), words & letters of a file. Then we will see what a "hash" is and when and where it is used and will check 3 famous hash commands on unix machines: sha256, sha512 and the older md5sum.

In the 2nd part of these series, we will learn about IP subnetting, how it works and different notations of Netmask ( octets & CIDR). Then we will learn how to calculate the Network and Broadcast Addresses with a quick review on decimal to binary conversation.
