Roundabouts are “safer. They save lives. They cost less!” Carmel, Indiana mayor Jim Brainard explains.
He’s replaced nearly every stoplight in his town with a roundabout. His town now accounts for about 2% of all roundabouts in America.
Roundabouts are safer. A study in Wisconsin found that when roundabouts replaced typical intersections, deaths fell 38%.
Crashes actually rose 12%, but they were more minor crashes.
“Instead of a T-bone, you get a sideswipe,” Brainard explains.
Roundabouts pass cars through intersections faster, they look nicer, save tax money, and pollute less.
Yet America’s politicians have been slow to adopt them. Europe has about 200,000 roundabouts — compared to America’s roughly 6,000.

Now Facebook won't show it to many people — not even to my subscribers. Facebook's also punishing Stossel TV by showing our other videos less.
All because Facebook foolishly gave Emmanuel Vincent, a recent PhD graduate from France, the power to censor.
Vincent assembled a group of like-minded scientists into a group called Climate Feedback climatefeedback.org that declared parts of my video “misleading," or "partially false."
What facts did the “fact-checkers” correct? NONE! There was not a single hard fact that in the video that was wrong.

I asked one Vincent “reviewer,” the only one willing to be interviewed, why I deserve censorship even though our facts were correct.
“The problem is the omission of contextual information rather than specific "facts" being "wrong,”" says Patrick Brown, Assistant Professor at San Jose State University.
Some “fact-check."
“What kills me,” I complain to Brown, “is that when Climate Feedback rates me partly false, that significantly reduces the number of people who see it -- and see my other videos. So this is really important to me that it be done fairly.”
“I am sympathetic with what you're saying,” he responds. “At the same time as a
consumer of information, I like the idea of having some type of system where content can be compared to what experts think.”
But Facebook’s choice of "experts" is absurd.
Emmanuel Vincent proudly says “all the climate scientists that I know personally agree that climate change is real, that it’s serious, and we can do something about it.”
Well, of course climate change is real! But how serious a threat it is, and whether we can do much about it with today’s technology deserves debate. Victor’s little group STOPS debate.
Remarkably, Facebook lets them.

If our government had instead allowed private test-makers to sell them from the start, the U.S. could have controlled COVID-19 without lockdowns, the way South Korea did, by testing lots of people, and isolating just the sick.
South Korea’s cases leveled off, while America's continue to rise.
The Trump administration has now finally waived the testing regulations, saying: just do it! Ask permission later.
It turns out many regulations got in the way of fighting the virus.
American rules limited:
-- "Telehealth" that allows people to talk remotely with doctors, saving patients a visit that might make them sick.
-- Licensed doctors from practicing in other states.
-- Hospitals from having more than a certain number of beds.
Now those rules are mostly waived. Let’s keep it that way!

But Yaron Brook, chairman of the Ayn Rand Institute says the opposite is true.
He points out that the poor were much poorer before capitalism: “We have basically made about $2 a day for 100,000 years. In other words ... we could eat what we farmed and that was it,” Brook tells Stossel.
“And then something amazing happened about 250 years ago.”
Around that time, a few countries tried capitalism. For the first time, people were allowed to profit from private property. That changed everything.
Brook explains: “250 years ago we suddenly discovered the value of individual freedom. We suddenly discovered the value of leaving individuals free to think, to innovate, to produce without asking for permission, without getting the state to sign off on it and we call that the industrial revolution. We got much, much, much richer and it's hard to imagine how much richer we got ... electricity, running water, the things we all take for granted today, but we didn't have 150 years ago ... and yes, some people complain about inequality, but everybody got richer. Even the poor got richer.”
He adds: “We have more than doubled our life expectancy. We have dramatically increased the quality of our life and we are wealthier than anybody could have imagined.”
Stossel interjects: “Made possible by private property and capitalism -- which people hate."
“Every priest, every philosopher, every mother, has taught us that to be selfless is good,” replies Brook. “Doing for others is fine – but only if that’s what you want.
Brook, who bases his philosophy on the ideas of author Ayn Rand, adds: “doing for others is fine – but only if that’s what you want.
Stossel pushes back: “Lots of us see morality as helping other people.”
“Ayn Rand was never against charity,” Brooks says. “What she said was that was not the major virtue in life and that you should voluntarily have a choice about who you help and who you don't.”
He adds: “The key is that somebody else's need is not a moral claim against your life. Your life is yours.”

Facebook banned posts that claimed Covid leaked from a lab.
Now experts say the lab leak theory is probably right.
Senator Rand Paul was suspended from YouTube for saying, “masks don't work very well, particularly the cloth masks.”
What he said is absolutely true.
Twitter prevented the NY Post’s reporting about Hunter Biden’s laptop from being shared.
The story was accurate.
It’s bad thing when media censors people.
It’s worse when government polices speech.
Twitter’s recently released internal files show government tried to control what you read.
