You often hear terms like Color correction and Color grading for post-production of a video. What is the difference between Color Correction and Color Grading? With the color correction, the purpose is to fix colors in the original footage and with color grading, the purpose is to apply a certain mood to your footage.

Normally it takes a lot of practice and good skills to color correct footage, but an easy way to do it to use Look Up Tables, also known as LUT's. A LUT that is optimized for your camera, will be able to take your footage to a completely new level. It's basically like having your own color corrector, that dials the knobs for you. It's not perfect, but you will have a very good starting point.

There are many providers of LUT's out there, but we will use LUT's from a company called Ground Control in this tutorial. Casey Faris has made a tailored package of LUT's that matches the footage from Mavic Pro. The Griffin package contains many different LUT's that will allow you to both colors correct and grade your footage.

You need some sample footage for practice. This needs to be recorded with the flat color profile DLOG to preserve as much information as possible. I have included some sample footage you can use, in case you don't want to make it yourself.
