Most videos like this boast about how little it cost to build their home. This build cost me nothing and actually made me money. I bought the chainsaw for £300, chopped the trees down to build the walls, cut the branches into logs, then sold them for about £600. The door, the windows and frames were all salvaged for free. The roof sheets were reused from the old cabin and I covered it with a large piece of plastic which cost me £15. I spent about £30 on nails and screws, then lived very happily, rent free in there for about 5 years. The inside floor space was originally 7 foot by 8 foot. I washed and shaved outside all year round and took a solar heated, gravity fed bath outside almost every day from late March to October. I cooked over the fire outside almost every day, unless it was raining too hard (because that puts the fire out). This lifestyle is a lot of hard work but also very rewarding. There's never ending work to do, whether it be cutting, collecting and drying wood or harvesting, storing and processing thousands of apples, walnuts, figs, cherries, blackberries, wild strawberries, olives and an abundance of wild edibles.
