Jeep Cherokee Tough Truck Breaks Down
Haha wow! This Jeep Cherokee looks like it's held together with duct tape and bubble gum. It seemed like every jump the rough truck was dropping parts on the ground. Eventually something gave way and the XJ just stopped rolling.
Tough truck racing, also known as tuff truck and rough truck racing is a timed off road event. It wasn't created out of any sanctioning body, but evolved from an event hosted at local fairs. Initially it was held as a type of demolition derby for trucks that were damaged or otherwise not road legal. In the case for the Hartford Fair in Croton Ohio, the event was held the day after the motorcross races. The event staff would smooth out the course and allow trucks to race. The fastest racer at the end would be crowned the winner.
Over the years the trucks evolved from beater farm trucks to purpose build short track trucks with design elements taken from Baja trucks. These modified trucks eventually came into a class of their own, and have developed new characteristics to race the tight courses. Besides the longer coil over shocks and roll cages, they have implemented differential braking systems to help the trucks apply brake to one corner. This allows them to apply throttle while one side of the front brakes pivot the truck around corners. Other differences seem to combine rock crawler style solid axles and trailing arm suspension with stiffer front shocks, as well as some cases of four wheel and hydraulic steering.
For the stock classes, the best vehicles tend to be shorter, smaller, and have a better front to back weight balance.
For the modified classes, the best vehicles tend to resemble smaller versions of Stadium Super Trucks, but have solid axles and gearing to suit tight tracks.

National Trail Raceway is an NHRA quarter mile drag strip located between Hebron and Kirkersville, Ohio, USA, off of U.S. Route 40. The track is located about 30 minutes east of Columbus, Ohio. It was first opened in 1964 and was the fifth largest facility at the time. It is also a PDRA member track that runs 1/8th mile outlaw door-slammer drag races.

This event was the Knox Co. Fair Tough Truck Races.
Tough Trucks, also known as Tuff Trucks, Pro Arena Trucks and, Street Warriors, are off-road truck competitions held at 4x4 truck jamborees and monster truck events. Tough Truck competitions are a downsized form of short course off-road racing. They are run as a side act at most monster truck shows. Depending on venue and promoter, the tracks can range from as big as a football field, to as small as a hockey rink. Most track set ups consist of a handful of double jumps, single banzai jumps, uneven/rocker hills, and dirt kicker ramps, again depending on venue and promoter. Some tracks are run in Chicago Style/Round E Round Track or S-Style Track. Some competitions are run as a single pass time trial, or side by side racing.

Today at RPM Army we have the Colonel Sanders Mustang. It's a Small Tire No Time Big Turbo grudge car. This was recorded during the Outlaw Street Car Test and Tune at Kil Kare Dragway.
The Outlaw Street Car Associations Hot Summer Nights was an 1/8th mile outlaw drag racing series event held at Kil-Kare raceway. It had some of the best racing action all year and spanned multiple classes from True Street cars all the way to the Outlaw Run What Ya Brung class. The OSCA is headquartered in Henderson Kentucky and their web address is outlawstreetcars.com.
Kil-Kare Raceway is an NHRA and NASCAR affiliated complex that has both a ¼ mile drag strip and a 3/8 mile oval track. It is located near Xenia and Dayton, Ohio. It was first opened in 1959. The complex, which is believed to be named after an old resort that was near the property, is one of the few strips in the nation with a concrete surface for the entire ¼ mile length.

The Midnight Street Drags was a heads up, no time, grudge racing style event held at National Trail Raceway to let locals blow off some steam and keep it off the streets. There was a big variety of cars that showed up at the event and pretty much everyone had a great time.
