Kindergarten Math 6.6, Write More Subtraction Sentences
We solve subtraction problems that have missing numbers, either a minuend, subtrahend, or difference. We complete equations. We see how the number that is being crossed out is the number that is taken away.

A step-by-step explanation of how to construct the center of a given circle with a compass and straightedge. We create two inscribed right triangles whose hypotenuses intersect at the center point.

To solve an equation with the variable on both sides that involves decimals is similar to solving an equation with fractions. But instead of first multiplying both sides of the equation by the LCM, we multiply by a power of 10 to remove the decimal points, then work with whole numbers. We walk-through a word problem in which we need to write an equation that involves decimals, multiply by a power of 10 to remove the decimal points, then use inverse operations to solve for the value of the variable.

We can use ratios and proportions to convert both customary and metric units. We can use a table to convert from one unit to another within the same measurement system, customary unit to customary unit, or metric unit to metric unit. Equivalent ratios with the same numerator will have the same denominator. Equivalent ratios with the same denominator will have the same numerator. We solve 4 conversions using tables.

We can compare proportional relationships presented in different ways. We can compare two rates, one rate given as an equation and the other rate given as a graph, to find which is greater. We introduce an equation written in slope-intercept form. We walk-through a problem to find which rate is greater by comparing a table made from a given equation and a given graph. The unit rate is the constant of proportionality k, which is also the slope.

An explanation of the formula for the surface area of a sphere, how the surface area of a sphere is four times the area of its Great Circle, finding the surface area of a sphere with a given diameter and putting our answer in terms of Pi, finding the volume of a sphere with a given surface area, exploring the effects of changing the dimensions of volume if the radius of a sphere is tripled. Finally, we find the surface area and volume of a composite figure which is made of a cone and hemisphere.

The Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem gives us a way to tell if a triangle is a right triangle, when we know the side lengths. If we need to find a missing side length, we use the Pythagorean Theorem. If we have 3 side lengths and need to know if it's a right triangle, we use the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem. We walk-through two problems to find whether the 3 given side lengths form a right triangle, by the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem. If we're given 3 side lengths, we can compare them to know which length is c. Side c represents the hypotenuse, which is the longest side. The side length with the greatest number is c.

We learn that a cylinder has a curved surface and 2 flat surfaces. We separate three-dimensional dimensional shapes into cylinder and not a cylinder. We circle words that describe a cylinder as having a curved surface, flat surface, can roll, can stack, and can slide. We see there are cylinders all around us everywhere as a paint can, food can, candle, battery, spool of thread, container of Oats, a drum.
