Please write a complaint to the MET police. Try and get some badge numbers. Here's my letter The protest of 26th September was mainly peaceful until the police rushed at the protestors around the stage. This action was disproportionate to the risk that I will elaborate on later. We have a civil right to protest and the police are supposed to uphold this right. I understand that Covid19 regulations mean that there are to be no gatherings and that guidlines state to distance. The BLM protest was allowed to happen with what seemed to be acceptance by police, by the lack of police action till prorestors were violent.  The law has changed regarding gathering, but our right to protest trumps dreconion non consensual  laws set by this disproportionate law and guidance. Risk. Risk is the reason this protest was stopped by the MET. The MET are basing their actions and compliance based on the risk of of not being socially distant, however that risk is extremely low risk to the majority of the population and Covid19 law is not more important than article 61 of the Magna Carta. Risk. The ONS.gov.uk shows monthly deaths. The excess deaths compared to 2018 is currently standing at 37,000. 10,000 of these excess deaths on April 2020 were due to Dementia, leaving 27,000 excess deaths. The Covid19 law modified the duty of a doctor from being a duty to preserve life to preserving resources, thus DNR and reduced life preserving pailiative care was enacted by NICE with many over 60 years of age not receiving their treatment. Therefore many of the 27,000 excess deaths when compared to 2018 can be attributed by this law. Your officers actions ( some badge numbers below, but also includes officers that were near them at approximately 15:50) are disproportionate to the current risk, and the fact that the protest was peaceful. I was deeply upset watching footage of officers rushing the crowd of women, children, elderly and disabled people and causing distress to members of the public who were excercising their right to lawful rebellion - Article 61. I have always been a supporter of the MET police, but your officers disproportionate actions have meant you have lost my support. I, and many others do not consent to these dreconian laws and I would like you to reassess your position when it comes to mainly peaceful protest. Badge numbers:  Sources:
