BcacheFS - "The COW filesystem for Linux that won't eat your data"
Today, I am doing something new, a 3-minute look at bcacheFS, a new file system making its debut into the Linux 6.7 kernel. BcacheFS is based on the bcache, caching system which has a project started by Kent Overstreet in 2015. File systems take a long time to mature because of the complexities of managing data without data loss.
In this episode of the CyberGizmo I explore using a thunderbolt 3 disk enclosure to build an inexpensive ZFS file system for Linux and perform some initial tests with it.
Had to delay the ZFS 2.0 RC look, ran into some stability problems, so did the thing I always do, take a step back put up the latest stable version and try the experiment again. This is what I found out.
Trying an experiment to use less slides and will be trying to insert more B-roll video, let me know if you thing this is a good or bad idea.

If all you do is use the Desktop Environment or a Window Manager, you are missing out on some of the real power of UNIX and Linux. The Shell, what is it? What Does it Do? Why do we need a shell? In this video I discuss the evolution of the shell from 1971 up through 2006, yes more has been done on shells since 2006.
Mark Paq did a great job of outlining the history of the shell on UNIX and I am going to augment that with some personal experiences with the Shell and the history I saw as they changed over time.

At the end of this video I am going to include a gource (that is not mispelled) video on the development of UNIX from 1970 - 1985, it shows how UNIX grew in size and the small start with 2-3 developers growing into several thousand by 1985,

So I lied, I thought I wouldn't be able to get to this video today, but I was able to put it together, I am redesigning my home network to include support for Trusted Execution Environments, in hopes of dumping the old enclave guard. I am just in the discovery phase so I wanted to share with you some of the software I have found for Intel, AMD, ARM and RISC-V. I go through my thought process, what I hope to achieve and explain what a Trusted Execution Environment is. Op-TEE is now supported by TrustedFirmware.org project.
