Move yourself about! Get up and get going! No matter how bad you may feel about your life or anything in your life, lift up your head and fill your soul! Walk! Run! Move! Shake! Groove! Recoil! Let's go!
Across a Field of Clover Running
Across a field of clover running,
Through the dew-wet sward I go,
Laws of earth and heaven shunning,
Through the streams of sunshine flow!
Bees on nectarous blossoms dancing,
Butterflies upon the wing,
Witness all my aimless prancing,
Hear the joyful song I sing.
Out across the emerald ceiling,
Soaring out across the green,
Like a swooping swallow feeling
Light as I have ever been,
Above a glorious clover field,
I move between the earth and sky.
To no element will I yield.
Listen to my exuberant cry.

Camp Muir is a popular and crucial high-altitude base camp located on Mount Rainier, the highest peak in the state of Washington and one of the most prominent peaks in the United States. Mount Rainier stands at an elevation of 14,411 feet (4,392 meters) above sea level. Camp Muir is situated at around 10,080 feet (3,073 meters) on the southeast side of the mountain.
Here are some key points about Camp Muir:
1. Base Camp for Climbers: Camp Muir serves as a base camp for climbers attempting to summit Mount Rainier. It is the primary base camp for the most commonly used climbing route, the Disappointment Cleaver Route.
2. Accessible from Multiple Routes: Climbers can reach Camp Muir from various approaches, including the Paradise route, the Ingraham Glacier route, and the Muir Snowfield route.
3. High-Altitude Challenges: As a high-altitude camp, Muir provides climbers with the opportunity to acclimatize to the thinner air before pushing for the summit. Altitude sickness is a significant concern at these elevations, so climbers must take precautions and monitor their health.
4. Accommodation and Shelter: Camp Muir features several structures to accommodate climbers, including the historic Muir Hut. The hut, named after John Muir, a prominent conservationist and mountaineer, was constructed in 1916 and serves as a shelter for climbers during harsh weather conditions.
5. Weather Conditions: The weather on Mount Rainier can be unpredictable and hazardous. Storms can develop rapidly, and visibility can drop to near zero. Climbers must be well-prepared for extreme weather conditions.
6. Glacial Environment: Camp Muir is located on a vast expanse of glacial terrain. Climbers must navigate around crevasses and seracs, which can pose significant hazards.
7. Guided Expeditions: Many climbers opt for guided expeditions with experienced mountaineering guides who are familiar with the terrain and weather conditions. These guides provide valuable knowledge and increase the safety margin for climbers.
8. Wilderness Experience: Climbing Mount Rainier and staying at Camp Muir provide climbers with an unforgettable wilderness experience. The views from the camp and the summit are breathtaking and offer a unique perspective of the surrounding landscapes.
It's essential for climbers to be adequately prepared and have the necessary skills and equipment to undertake a climb on Mount Rainier, as it is a challenging and potentially dangerous endeavor. Proper training, physical fitness, and knowledge of mountaineering techniques are essential for a safe and enjoyable experience.
