Why Cryptocurrency Memes Matter
In this video, I discuss the importance of memes to cryptocurrency communities. Memes may be thought of as "mind viruses" that help to form and mould a community.

The best cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin seem to have the best memes. Memes are an effective way of spreading knowledge of the crypto, as well as cementing the existing community. Strong communities create good memes, and good memes create strong communities.

Examples of bad memes that fail to represent the underlying reality would be XRP ("XRP the Standard") and LiteCoin ("Silver to Bitcoin's gold").

Well-known Bitcoin memes include:
-- HODL
-- Stack sats, and stay humble.
-- 21 million
-- Digital gold

If you focus only on the technology/cryptography aspect of a cryptocurrency, you'll miss out on how important the social aspect is. It doesn't matter if your block size is bigger or if you can send your transactions more quickly. Bitcoin is good enough and it has the best memes, largest network, and largest market cap
