This year will mark the 7th year that I have been living life as an Expat in Chiang Mai Thailand…
When I first arrived in Thailand with the intention to stay long-term it could only be described as a whirlwind of an experience.
The culture shock of moving to Thailand or any country in South East Asia for that matter is intense.
The sights, the sounds and the organised chaos are light years from what most foreigner are used to, and so, a question I get asked a lot is...
Once you become used to living in Thailand does the novelty go away?
Does the culture shock for people living in Thailand eventually wear off?

This video was made in response to a comment I received.
The person asked what I would recommend somebody do to make a transition to working online with little or no experience?
The first and most important thing I would suggest is to know what exactly you want to do. Once you know what you want to do, you can start out on your journey to accomplishing whatever it may be.

A complete breakdown of the neighbourhoods in and around Chiang Mai:

Moving to a Thai neighbourhood and outside of Chiang Mai's Old City was probably the smartest move I made when I moved to Thailand.
When I first arrived I met a good friend who gave me a lot of great advice and moving outside of the old city was probably the best.
In this video, I discuss the pros and the cons of living in a Thai neighbourhood vs living inside of a city.
While I have been in Bangkok for a short time. Most of my experience is based on living in Chiang Mai a city in the north of Thailand.

Self-Marketing & Personal Branding is important. I meet one or more people each week, who tell me that they are about to start a YouTube channel to promote a travel blog or some other form of online business.
This quickly leads to the discussion of self-marketing, self-branding and building an identity online.
YouTube is a powerful driver of traffic in 2017 and one of the best platforms to get the word out about your business.
In this video, I go into detail about why I think self branding is important. How it can benefit you and your business and why, if you are not engaging in building a personal brand around your business you are losing out on a substantial piece of the pie.
Isn’t it about time you started working online?

In this video, I take you on a journey to Chiang Mai, Thailand, where I share my biggest mistakes and lessons learned during my time in this beautiful country. As I ride my motorbike to the stunning Doi Suthep Temple and Bhubing Palace, I reflect on the top five biggest mistakes I've made while living in Thailand.
Firstly, I talk about the financial mistake I made by not saving enough money before moving to Thailand. This was a big mistake as I found myself struggling to make ends meet during my initial months in the country.
Secondly, I discuss the importance of getting a long-term visa fast enough, something that I failed to do, and the resulting difficulties and expenses that ensued.
Thirdly, I share the consequences of not obtaining a driver's license, which led to inconvenience and difficulties in transportation, especially when travelling to remote areas of the country.
Fourthly, I highlight the importance of travelling around the country before settling down in one place, something that I did not do enough of before settling in Chiang Mai.
Finally, I discuss the importance of learning to speak Thai fluently, which would have made my experience in Thailand more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Join me on this personal and candid journey as I share my biggest mistakes and the valuable lessons I learned during my time in Thailand.
