Markets, Malls and Marts Travel Blog: Westquay North, Southampton
This Markets, Malls and Marts episode is from Southampton. The Westquay North mall opened in 2000, after 3 years build. It is huge on 3 levels and expanding this year to include bowling and a multiplex cinema.
I did contact the management after my recent experiences with other malls requiring permission although no compulsion appears on their website. In a bid to be proactive, I had several email responses but then they stopped. I did not get any answer positive or negative.
I recall visiting here a few years previously and remembered the dining level being tight on space at busy times. The lift was also confusing and we ended up going to wrong levels several times.
I really liked the huge spaces and funky modern design, although it is not a place i would frequent unless I was shopping. Access is good, and despite there being 30+ lifts, I found less than half a dozen.
Major brands frequent the mall, which dominates the city centre and overshadows the previous champion, the Marlands Mall.

Check-in time at Bangkok. Our Bangkok airport experience was longer than other times, and not unexpected. We then went through security for our trip to Khon Kaen, which was the usual pain in the ass. I headed to the disabled route but was directed to the normal route, but as we got nearer the scanner (after offloading my stuff) I had to turn around (in the queue) and go back to the disabled route where I was originally!
In Khon Kaen, there were steps, so I was carried down in a wheelchair.

There are 500+ places of interest in the UK under the National Trust banner and I will be attempting to visit as many as I can, reporting as I do all the important stuff relative to accessibility.
In this episode I go to South Wales to visit a garden and house called Dyffyrn, although I had no idea how to pronounce it. It is a house fully accessible although the lift was out of order I assume it will be fixed at some point giving access to the upper floor.
The garden too, is pretty good with really good paths. This was probably the best place for access i have been to visit.

Thailand 30-day visa on arrival update by the Thai Embassy however the criteria includes the standard 14/15 day ASQ, certificate of entry, test for cv, etc.
Whether it is worth the cost, I am doubtful, but it does mean tourists can go to Thailand.
