Absolute Extrema. Find all points of absolute minima and maxima on the given closed interval of y=(x+2)^(2/3); [-4, -2]. We learn how to find the absolute minimum and absolute maximum of y=(x+2)^(2/3); [-4, -2]. We first find the derivative of the function. Then we find the critical points of the function. We then apply the first derivative test to see where the function is increasing and decreasing. This then helps us find where the function has a relative minimum or a relative maximum. We then use those x-coordinates and plug them into our original function to find the y-coordinate values. We then also find the endpoints of the interval. With all of this information, we can then determine where the Absolute Minima and Absolute Maxima are. This is a great introduction into Relative Extrema. This is under the topic of Applications of Differentiation with this free online math video lesson. #absoluteextrema #absoluteminimum #absolutemaximum #minima #maxima #calculus #derivatives #minutemath #calculushelp
