I demonstrate the use of the radial rosette maker jig to add an offset to a radial rosette pattern on an acoustic guitar build. This is a follow up to the first video in this series: Making a Radial Rosette https://youtu.be/GpVgzygZHHs
I rough out the radius for the guitar's sides, attach the kerfing, and sand a final radius into the sides.

How to get started in Lutherie! I discuss things like having basic tool skills, learning to sharpen, whether or not you should build from a kit or from scratch, and whether or not you should specialize in acoustic guitars or go broad and build electrics, ukuleles etc...

That's right. The concept of tonewoods as applied to solidbody electric guitars is a myth. I explain how the original concept of tonewoods as applied to acoustic guitars is taken out of context and used to infer that the choice of wood for a solid body guitar actually matters.
Please share this video with someone you love, who still believes in the fallacy of electric guitar tonewoods.

The fifth part in a series detailing the construction of a Triple-O guitar, with educational commentary from the builder.
This one was built with Redwood for the top, Ziricote for the back and sides, and Port Orford Cedar for the neck. This instrument has a handful of unique features: Steinberger Gearless Tuners for 40:1 tuning precision, lattice bracing for the back plate, Mother of Pearl purfling and rosette, and a new bridge shape.
In this part, I will be carving the neck, attaching the neck to the body, radiusing the fretboard, installing the frets and completing some fretwork.

I discuss a selection of tools that have been a very welcome addition to my shop. These tools are not the "necessary" tools of luthiers, but rather, tools that make guitar building more efficient, more precise, or just plain fun.
The Tools:
- Rolling Pin Sander from Elevate Lutherie
- Robo-sander
- Japanese Curved Edge Mini-Saw from Stewart Macdonald
- The Radial Rosette Maker
- Shinto Rasp
- Komelon Speed Cut Saw
