NOTE: This is a re-do of a re-do of an older LP, I'm doing this LP for myself and challenging myself in it as well. This is going to be a 5-heart only run, but I'll be keeping count of all the fortune dolls we'll run into as well!
After meeting up with this crazy pipe maker (hopefully not SMOKING said pipes), we got the needed tools to reach the first dungeon of the game!
Transformed Oedo Castle isn't a difficult place, and there's nothing really bad that can be said about this place. But the way this dungeon is laid out. The Zelda vibes are too strong! Silver keys, locked doors, a map, an item that points you to the boss room? Yep, Zelda's done plenty of that before!
However, Goemon definitely isn't ripping it off, as the area has its own elements to it and the crazy sights you'll see in this place. Well, I'd say it's about time to dive straight into this thing.

Welcome yourself to one of the most complex dungeons in the game and possibly one of the best because of how atmospheric the game presents itself. There's not a single boring room in this place and because of the intricate designs, it's easy to get yourself lost here and also to miss out on some things hidden in the nook and crannies. Also, if you thought that Ghost Toys Castle was challenging with its red muck, this place ups the ante with the enemies and the traps. Watch your step or constant falling and berating damage is sure to follow!

Goemon and Ebisumaru have combed over Oedo Town and learned that the citizens are fine, but the castle is not. To make things more troublesome, the bridge is out. However, there is hope, it's just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Time to hike up Mt. Fuji and talk with the pipe maker and get some help, psuedo-collecting all the fortune kitties along the way!

Just because I have a 4-point lead doesn't mean I cannot sit comfortably in the least. Mario may be down, but he's definitely not out.
If there was one thing that was established earlier, the back 9 of Mario's Star is some of the biggest challenges in the game. Boo Valley has nothing on the sheer precision that is required for this particular course. Having a mostly static scoreboard is pressuring enough, but Mario's generally solid playstyle is a very high bar to set yourself upon.
The advice I can give you is savescum a LOT if you're ready and willing. Otherwise, build up a commanding lead in the front 9 and use the back 9 to defend it to the fullest

Two of the best things about Super Mario 64 are elements that some old-schoolers know very well, and something that became a growing trend as of late. The first is challenging stages that would lead to a confrontation with Bowser, the King of the Koopas. The Bowser stages are easily one of the most rewarding things about making progress in this game, because the areas themselves are tricky and quite platformtastic and the MUSIC! The music is the best part about these stages. Last but not least, the true mechanics of the game really come to play within the realm of these stages and that's certainly the idea.
The second part is the element of exploration and the concept of open-endedness. This started in Super Mario World, where while all roads led to Bowser, there certainly were a number of paths in which to get to him. Sometimes you'd end up finding a lot of secret paths or you could essentially take a straight shot at Bowser. This is certainly the same case here and it is kind of nice to have an adventure element in a more interactive kind of environment.

The Chimera is certainly a boss that can take you by surprise! The way he ambushes you out of nowhere and the fact that he is a rather tricky boss. The boss consists of three body parts: Head, Wing and Arm. You have to destroy all three to kill it, but depending on which part you destroy will disable certain attacks. Moreover, it has a VERY dangerous attack by the name of Big Sin! This attack will likely kill you if you're not defending. Listen to your characters and bring some Fire-resistance and bulky tanks like Rasten for this one! Pelting him with Water and Wind attacks will be very beneficial as this guy CAN and WILL last a good while!

Did you get through those first three circuits, loss free? GREAT! You just have one more to go now and it's respectively the hardest too. Ironically, the nationalities that show up in this circuit are the countries that are usually associated as villains in generic Hollywood movies. I have to say that the stereotypical references are ramping up a bit more. But more importantly, so are the stakes as well. Will Macho Mac become the champion of... the special? Or will he remain to be a bland, normal, and boring individual holding three already shiny belts? I'm sure this video will answer that question quite effectively.

Stage 2 of Sigma's Palace is the easiest of the four stages. However, it doesn't mean it's a walk in the park. Since the enemies are not as numerous, you'll have to deal with the dangers of well-placed enemies in precarious situations. Moreover, you have to deal with the incredibly buffed Chill Penguin and the equally annoying Storm Eagle. It's crazy how these two birds have changed position so drastically on the ranks.
Oh yeah, and we gotta deal with the FACE at the end of all this. Not a good-looking mascot if you ask me...

Here's the list of the changes below:
- AI changes: Regular enemies, bosses and minibosses have had their AI enhanced, making them more responsive and faster, among other things.
- Enemy stat rebalances: Enemies have had their HP rebalanced and they usually deal more damage.
- Player stat rebalances: Ammo has been reduced, and each of the weapon's costs have been rebalanced. Damage done by weapons have been rebalanced as well (The Hadouken isn't a 1-shot anymore), both against regular enemies and bosses. Some weapons had their speed rebalanced. The body upgrade has been nerfed to 25% damage reduction.
- Infinite lives.
- Dialogue changes.
- Death counter in the pause screen.
- Each of the bosses can now be rebattled.
- Each of the Maverick stages can be exited without having beaten it first.
- Hadouken capsule only requires 1 visit. Doesn't require all stages beaten.
- Custom Title.
- Other rebalances and small additions.

The Sephiroth Challenge was one of the best little events to come to SSBU. The fact that you get to fight Sephiroth in a boss battle setting and it was kind of tricky. But the reward was an early release of Sephiroth, which is well worth the time and effort!
