Now I have wore them for a couple of months and done different styles of training with them, so I give much more depth and detail on these Nike training shoes.

In today's video I discuss youth performance and how to workout for sports as a young athlete. Athletic training ranging from ages 7-10 can be tricky, but it doesn't have to be. I talk about the best ways to go about training these youth athletes, and what to focus on at this age. I also talk about if it is necessary to do things like strength training or vertical jump training at these ages. Are components like that going to cause any sort of gain when they are so young? Knee strengthening exercises for basketball players, workout that you can do from home! Jumpers knee, patellar tendonitis, and patellar tendinopathy are very common in the sport of basketball. Once you get past the stage of pain for the most part, then the focus needs to be to prevent it from coming back, and prepare you knees for this very strenuous sport. This workout is going to be a great stepping stone, and progressive advancement of increasing the strength in your knees. I have all of the exercises, sets, and reps listed in this video. For this video I talk about dunking a basketball. Learning how to dunk in basketball can seem self explanatory, but their are things you can do to practice dunking or to help be able to dunk a basketball.
I give 4 different tips for dunking, so if you put all these together they will help you dunk a basketball, or be a better dunker. I mention that dunking is not just about being able to jump high. Dunking is a skill and it takes practice even if you are able to jump high enough to dunk. Another tips is to figure out if you are a 2 foot jumper or a 1 foot jumper. Knowing this is going to help your feet placement when attempting to dunk. Obviously you have to be able to jump high enough to dunk, so working on things that increase your vertical jump is one of the most important things to work on. Their are 3 main things you need work on in order to jump higher for basketball, (strength, plyometric exercises, and flexibility). For the last tip I give is a little out of the ordinary, but practicing on a shorter goal is going to help with your dunking skill. I don't fully recommend this one because it can create bad habits, but it can help. I stress in the video to not abuse this one, and to be super careful. Never use a chair or anything on a 10 foot goal!

If you want to be a lock down defender in basketball, I talk about 4 different aspects you need in order to be great at defense. These four things in combination are going to work together to help fine tune your defense.
You never want to be the guy that your team has to worry about guarding someone. You can be good on offense, but be a liability because you can't guard anybody. Defense is very important, so make sure to work hard on these things I talk about.
The first thing I talk about that you need is strength. If you don't have strength on defense, and you are guarding a smart, stronger player then it makes it very easy for that player to decide how to are going to play against you. If that player is smart he will back you down in the post every possession. The second trait for being a great defender in basketball is being in shape. This one could be the most important, because even if you are strong enough if you don't have the lung capacity you are not going to last very long. The third thing is lateral quickness. Guarding someone that is a dribbler is going to cause you to have to be laterally quick or they are going to blow by you every time. Having good footwork and having that lateral quickness will help you to beat them to the spot they are trying to go. And the last be not least, it is a simple one but it is hard for most players to truly have it. Effort, you can have all three of the traits I just mentioned, but if you don't have effort then they usually don't even matter. The only problem with effort is you can't hardly teach it. Players kind of have to develop the will on their own, how bad do you want to win, how bad do you want to stop your defender from scoring. That sort of thing. I even see things pretty often in the NBA. Some of these players that are known as "bad defenders" have all of these things I just mentioned, so why are they bad defenders? Because they don't have enough effort on defense, they don't care enough about the defensive side of the ball.

In this video I talk about single leg vertical jump training to dunk a basketball, and how I like to go about intergrading this into my programs as well as form and technique of the one foot vertical jump. Form and technique are going to be a big thing with something like this especially for the people that would label themselves as a two foot jumper. The goal here is to get use to the idea of jumping off of one foot first, I break down the process of that.
