Now that Unity have finalized the new "Unity Runtime Fee", the cost comparison between Unreal Engine and Unity game engine are completely different.

Basically yes, Adobe Air is dead. New feature development ends in June, security support ends in 2020 and future development is being handled by HARMON... yeah, the speaker people. So it could of course live on... but I'd not put my money on it.
