Now that Unity have finalized the new "Unity Runtime Fee", the cost comparison between Unreal Engine and Unity game engine are completely different. PixelORama is a free, MIT licensed pixel art tool with full animation support. Available on mac, Windows and Linux as well as HTML5 and potentially mobile platforms. PixelORama is written in Godot using the GDScript langauge.

The Epic Megagrant program is the gift that keeps on giving, literally. It's a funding grant program by Epic Games that among other things, sponsors game development and open source projects. This one may not be useful for everyone, but Luminar 4 has become a weapon in my daily arsenal, and at this price, I highly recommend it to anyone that ever does any photo or image editing work. Basically yes, Adobe Air is dead. New feature development ends in June, security support ends in 2020 and future development is being handled by HARMON... yeah, the speaker people. So it could of course live on... but I'd not put my money on it.
