VIKINGS, VOLCANOES AND RAGNAROK: The Fimbul Winter explained
I've gotten so many requests for my take on the 3 year long Fimbul Winter. Well, I say it's tightly connected with Ragnarok, the End of the World, and two volcanoes far away!

In my previous Lecture Series video 'Secrets of the Germanic tribes', I talked a little about the philosophy of Hegel and how his Master-Slave dialectic can be related to the early warrior code of the Germanic tribes. For those who are interested, here are some further reflections on that and how learning from this can help anyone to show some courage, in work, in relations, love and life, when taking on confrontations. Based on my own personal experiences, it will always be for the better and you get to keep your self-respect.
Disclaimer: I expect anyone who takes in any advice given on this channel to do so at their free will and use them at their own individual responsibility. If it works for me, it won't necessarily work for you the same way, and my point is that techniques like this need to be used the right way, adapted to every given situation.
- Please excuse my high pulse for the first 35 seconds ?
Here are some more thoughts from the video:
Of course we in Norway have invented something called 'Master suppression techniques' (hersketeknikker). It could only have come out of Norway or Sweden where in my experience you find the highest number of people who go long ways (around the porridge, as we say) to avoid confrontations at all costs. But this is no doubt recognizable everywhere. The term itself is from a 1945 book titled The dictatorship of the psykopat (!), which was meant to describe the psychopathy of Hitler and the Nazi rise to power. The term was further developed 1970s and 80s by feminists to be applied towards men in general, and in the early 2000s it really caught on in Norway after a few politicians paved the way in political debates. Soon everyone began yelling for "hersketeknikker" once they experienced something seemingly close to unfair treatment.
The thing is, it's really the cowards way to complain through whining or crying after you've experienced a confrontation of sorts. It most certainly isn't the Viking way and by reacting in this manner the learning path becomes so much longer, if not impossible, and further unfair treatment will no doubt continue for those who don't crawl into a shell. In my opinion in this way one will never prevail and never grow. This reaction pattern to confrontations would certainly not work in international business or politics. I'd love to see a Norwegian politian cry and whine about someone internationally who apparently have bullied them or won an argument through the use of rhetoric, as if it was unfair treatment.
Nobody can really set the rules in love and war. It would be unwise to perceive these rules to be nice, a bit naive really, fooling only yourself and yours alike. And for better and worse, naivety and idealism is something we know all too well in our present day Scandi

In this second video of Viking Stories Lectures Series I talk about the Viking descendants who went to Southern Italy as Norman mercenaries and ended up as Kings in Italy! This is the story of the Greatest Mercenary family of all time, the Hauteville family. Check out the links below for more on this and also the roots to the Sicilian mafia.

How do YOU prepare before battle? I normally use nature for inspiration and to strengthen myself. And I do recommend having reflections under a waterfall like I do in this video. I'll be sure to keep you updated on this battle in the coming days!

Last week I was once again interviewed by Bjørn Andreas Bull-Hansen on his youtube channel. Afterwards I interviewed him for this channel and in this video we talk about Vikings, his novels, self sufficiency, modern day Vikings and of course his youtube channel and why there seems to be such a large demand all around about topics that Bjørn and I both like to talk about.
I hope you enjoy our little talk at his home!

Is it possible to know something about how our ancestors danced thousands of years ago? Well, yes and Hallgrim Hansegård of the Frikar Dance Ensemble has really opened my eyes which has forced me to look at our ancient cult and ritual places anew.
This is very much connected to the obsession with deep knowledge that our ancestors and the Norse Gods had, which they learned much from through mushrooms, psychedelic experiences and altered state of consciousness. We know from many sources that dancing and music must have played and important part, such as with the story of the volve (seeress) Torbjørg and the song of the great Gudrid Thorbjarnardóttir in the Saga of Erik the Red. But there is more, so much more which can be studied through the eyes of experienced dancers such as Hallgrim...
So I hope you can enjoy this open discussion with Hallgrim Hansegård of the Frikar Dance Ensemble.

(SUBS avaliable!) Now that the Vikings TV show has done it's best to portray how Harald Finehair became the first King of all of Norway, perhaps it's best to tell the real story on exactly how he became the one King to rule them all:
It was in fact a great battle and a brand NEW research project at the bottom of this fjord has probably found the ships with armour and possibly people from the battle! So in this video recorded just outside the city of Stavanger I am talking a little bit about what happened with the losing side and I've got some photos from the ongoing very exciting research project as well. Sorry for the wind. I had to turn the volum a bit down and adjust on Adobe Premier as best as I could.
Here is a link to an January 2020 update on the research: (in Norwegian!)
