How to use a Hair Jig to catch monster Bass! Big bass love the Hair Jigs.

In this video I go over all the ins and outs of the hair jig. I specifically talk about the finesse hair jigs that work great in clear water for smallmouth bass, but I also touch on a great technique to use on cold water largemouths.
Finesse hair jigs made out of marabou, bucktail and bear hair are some of the best ways to put big smallmouth bass in the boat year round. The marabou hair jig really shines during colder water temps but does work year round under certain conditions. The hair jig is a great bait to use around heavy fishing pressure, cold fronts or really anytime you feel that a subtle approach is the key. I use hair jigs a lot and after many years of trial and error I found some of the best ways to use the hair jig.
Fishing a marabou hair jig has been a long kept secret and until recently really hasn't been talked about much. Many big tournaments have been won on hair jigs and to this day still play a key role in many tournament wins. I would highly recommend picking up a few hair jigs and giving them a try on your next trip to a clear water fishery. It doesn't take long to learn how to throw a hair jig and the rewards can be some of the best catch fishing days you may ever experience!
I primarily use a marabou hair jig and a buck tail hair jig. Each has there time and place and I would suggest using both and experimenting with the retrieve and how you work the hair jig back to the boat.
I also talk about the marabou drop shot bait that is becoming one of my favorite techniques year round. The action of this bait is amazing and it will catch fish when nothing else seems to be working! I am currently working with a company that I will be announcing shortly to produce a high quality marabou drop shot bait with the correct hook size and action so as soon as these are available I will be putting up the link here in the description for you.

Fishing for Fall Salmon - Oswego River Trout and Salmon Fishing
In this video I head up to Up State New York to do some salmon and trout fishing on the Oswego River in Oswego, NY. I have been fishing the Oswego River for a number of years and every once in a while I get the urge to do some salmon fishing. This time of the year the salmon both Chinook and Coho come up to spawn. You will also find plenty of rainbow trout, steelheads and brown trout in the river. The Steelhead fishing can be great this time of year and will continue for the next few months. You will have to deal with crowds just like another popular river the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY this place gets pressure but it is still fun and gives a person something to do.
I met up with an Oswego River local James who has spend countless hours on the Oswego River. He has all the right gear and knowledge and I was excited to get to fish him for the day. It took us awhile to figure it out but we eventually did. The conditions were not ideal as the days still had some high temperatures and the water wasn't as cold as we could have liked to see especially for the trout.

In this weeks video I fish another Online Bass Fishing Tournament. It was the Lucky Go Fishing Tournament, powered by TourneyX. I decided to jump in a final tournament for the year. I have been catching some good fish lately and so since I was going to fish already this day I wanted to see if I could compete. The bite was not great but steady throughout the day and even though we had some high winds and big waves I was able to secure a win in this event. The fish seemed to want something on the bottom and so I had to work a bait really slow alone the bottom. Water temps were in the mid 30's and the air temperature was also in the 30's . Probably my last event until early spring but it was fun getting out!

So after a few days of fishing and guiding out on Lake Ontario I needed to stop at the service yard in Waddington, NY to have some of the guys there give me some pointers on my equipment. Since I was in the area I decided to fish below the first damn below the river. I called up Matt Pangrac from Bass Talk Live who was in town covering the Bassmaster Elite Series event which was going on at the same time. We headed down to the ramp and ended up running into Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Adrian Avena. Of course Adrian right away wanted to turn this into a competition, the only problem is he had less than 3 hours to fish! Well we accepted the challenge and it was Matt and myself against Adrian and his crew. 5 Fish limit and had to be back at 9:30. I had some pretty good confidence fishing this part of the river. I competed here last year in the Berkley B1and it was right around this time of year. I ran to those spots but was only able to catch some smaller fish. It certainly was a fun time and something to do! The St Lawrence RIver is an amazing fishery and the scenery is also pretty cool! I love it up here and can't wait to get back!

Rapala makes some seriously good crankbaits and I have been using them for as long as I can remember. Back in the day I was all about the Original Floating Rapala, Jointed Rapala and the Fat Rap. I have could a bunch of fish on the Rapala Fat Rap size 5 in Chartreuse back in the day!
In today's video I talk about the Rapala DT Series crankbaits. I have love using these crankbaits year round. The Rapala DT Series 6 and 10 are my go to cranks of choice. The DT 4 certainly has its place and the DT16 and DT 20 as well. I have caught some good suspending smallmouth on the DT16 and DT20 before.
