Store Tour: JAX Farm and Ranch & Home of Lafayette in the former Country General/Flatirons Community Church ?? History/Time Stamps ?? The Country General building was built in 1984. At this time, closure date is unknown, and if you have any idea when it closed, please comment below. In 2002, Flatirons Community Church relocated to this location. With the growth it would experience in the next few years, it decided it needed a larger space. They chose to combine the former Albertsons* and Walmart** nearby into one huge tenant for their new space. In the process, JAX would decide to split the nearby JAX Outdoor Gear into two stores: The original location in the former Ace Hardware, and the new JAX Farm and Ranch / Ranch & Home in the former Country General. To this day, JAX thrives in Lafayette within both locations! *Albertsons seems to have been built in 1986, the same time as the neighboring Walmart. Albertsons relocated to a new and larger space nearby in 2002; in the process, the city of Lafayette would buy the old Albertsons building. At some point between 2002 and 2009, Hunter Floor and Window Covering moved into part of the old Albertsons location, but relocated again before the Church moved to the building. In 2009, the new Albertsons closed due to poor performance according to various sources, getting replaced by Goodwill, Sprouts/Sunflower Farmers Market, and Dollar Tree within the next few years. The City would sell the building to Flatirons Church in 2010. **Walmart 1045 was built in 1986 according to the property assessor and opened in 1987 according to other sources. It would relocate to a new plaza north of this JAX in 2006, beginning to work on selling it's portion of the plaza to Flatirons Church in 2009. This Walmart thrives to this day.
