Home Front Door Open Email Alert System - IFTTT and ESP8266
When you need to receive an alert or automated status update for a remote event, using webhooks with IFTTT can help.
With this ESP8266 project monitoring a door switch on the home security system, I was able to receive an email alert every time the front door was opened.
This was particularly useful during a real estate listing when I had to be away from the house multiple times per day and wanted to know when people had come and gone so I could use my time more efficiently.
It's very easy to get Teensy boards integrated with the Arduino IDE. After installing Teensyduino, the Teensy boards can be selected as targets and sketches can be used easily.
I wanted to see how fast I could port over a previous Arduino Uno OLED display project and control some LEDs with a Pot, and it was all very easy.

Inspired by a futuristic black Trans AM from the 80's, here's my take on an LED back-and-forth scanner using 8 LEDs with a 4017 based circuit.
There are similar LED chaser circuits using only 6 LEDs with one 4017, but this project uses two 4017's and a customized transistor LED driver to allow the brightness to fade out similar to light bulbs turning off, giving a more natural visual effect.

I found this UM3482A melody generator I bought at Radio Shack 30+ years ago and thought I'd fire it up and try to improve its sound output characteristics.
Running it through the Sound Logic board I made recently
(video: https://youtu.be/hv5_Nsf6wCU ),
I was able to change the tonal qualities in a few ways as well as generate harmony out of the single tone melodies.

I had a few issues getting this blinking heart LED musical kit working, but after a quick modification, it ran a lot better. I have some ideas for future hacks so I think it was a good use of a rainy day.

This is the H-Bridge PCB designed by Simple Electronics, which I decided to also make and try running with PWM control from an Arduino Uno.
The sketch is rough and brute force just to get going for fun.

The INA282 is a current shunt monitor with a voltage output, and can be used for high side or low side current sensing. The device can be configured for unidirectional or bi-directional current measurement.
Here is a demo measuring currents from a few mA to 1 amp, comparing the Arduino measurement against a DMM ammeter reading and a manual calculation based on the sensor's output voltage.
