http://www.tridentfitness.net While attending an Operation Restored Warrior "Drop Zone" program in Vail, CO we got a chance to take our service dogs out for a little training on the zip lines! They usually do not allow this but, because the "War Beast" is a certified S&R K9 they made an exception. This was a great experience!
Here is a great tip from Home Front K9 Project Trainer Callie on how to stow a long line to avoid knots and tangling when deploying it. This method is also very useful for other ropes, lines and cords.

In a non-permissive environment, it's important to think about how to make your strikes more devastating. A simple tool that can be used for attaching water bottles to your gear can also be used to make your strikes and clinch work more effective: the carabiner.

Here are 3 Key Steps to increase the odds of success when getting charged by a knife wielding attacker!
First-don't be in the spot the attacker is charging towards. As simple as that sounds, many times our initial reaction is to run backwards. We most likely can not gain enough distance this way, so it is better to move on an angle off line of the attackers direction of movement. This is many times referred to as "getting off the X"
Second-if possible when getting of the X or before the charge "stack" an item between you and the attacker to slow down their ability to get to you, and provide you more time to get away or draw your weapon to defend yourself.
Third-draw your weapon on the move while keeping your eyes on the threat. It is important that we move first because if we don't draw fast enough we might get stabbed or cut. Practice drawing from your concealed carry position while creating space and stacking items if possible. Be ready to fight with your hands in case they catch up to you. Do not let stationary range drill muscle memory sabotage you from creating distance. It is paramount that we can multi-task our draw in conjunction with our movement.

In this video I demonstrate some different ways to maneuver around people to get your weapon on target. We call this the high ready position in our adaptive shooting techniques. We utilize it because a lot of time it means shorter distance to threat and also allows us a more combative position should someone close with us.

Establishing a proper "natural point of aim" is a key fundamental for delivering fast repeatable accurate shots at long distance. I addition good natural point of aim will allow a shooter with out a spotter make independent corrections for follow up shots due to the ability to see the target in the scope through the process of the recoil. With this small tweak you are sure to see and improvement in your shooting accuracy, speed, and consistency.
