Approximating Area Under a Curve...made easy. Approximate the area under the curve over the given interval of y=-(x^2/2)+6; [-3, 2] using 5 right endpoint rectangles. We learn how to approximate the area under a curve of y=-(x^2/2)+6; [-3, 2] by using 5 right endpoint rectangles. These rectangles will help us approximate the area under a given curve. This is a great introduction to Area Under a Curve. Mean Value Theorem. Find the values of c that satisfy the Mean Value Theorem of y=-(6x+24)^(2/3) [-4, -1]. We learn how to determine if the Mean Value Theorem can be applied to y=-(6x+24)^(2/3) [-4, -1]. If it can, we find all values of c that satisfy the theorem. If it cannot, we explain why not. We learn how to apply the Mean Value Theorem to a function. We first determine if the Mean Value Theorem can be applied. If it can not be applied, we state why. If the Mean Value Theorem can be applied, we first take the derivative of the function. We then set the derivative equal to (f(b)-f(a))/(b-a) and solve for x. Once we get these values we determine which ones are within our bounds of the problem. These values are the values of c that satisfy the Mean Value Theorem. This is a great introduction into the Mean Value Theorem. This is under the topic of Applications of Differentiation with this free online math video lesson. #MeanValueTheorem #findthevalueofc #ApplytheMeanValueTheorem #MVT #derivatives #calculus #calculushelp #minutemath #minutemathhelp #onlinemathlessons
