Planetside 2 Animated models montage: I started working on some 3D random stuff again! Now I remember why I stopped doing these... It takes ages! My 2 pcs are rendering since 2 days and I still didn't rendered 20% of what I wanted. So I made this short montage to evacuate some stress, hope you enjoy :) For the moment I only have 4 characters rigged and ready, I can't find the motivation for the others for now, so you will mostly see some NC female infiltrator+TR heavy assault+TR max stuff I also rigged the VS heavy assault but I keep him for some other videos. You'll also see some extracts of my first "character interaction" attemps, this is an awesome double kick in the TR Max's face. I'll try to most more of this stuff, because it's really funny to do. Actually any support is greatly appreciated, the time and effort to do these 2 mins were crazy it's nothing like a Fragmovie. the amounts of steps to do this almost drived me nuts, I'll try to list it: -extracting the models, texture them, organise them, rig them (there is hundreds of objects) -finding good mocap, organise it, review it, plot it to the rigged models (huge part of the job) -setup the scene, lights, render quality, optimize it for shorter render times -rendering, re-rendering rage and repeat, convert to vegas compatible format -editing finally, rendering crashing and re-rendering -uploading and writing a description.... lol guys I need to sleep now, hope you enjoy!! _______________________________________________________________________ These models are the characters and vehicles of the Planetside 2 game made by SOE here is the link to Colin's video, he explain how to use his program (ps2ls) to extract the models: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkJuEbv_viE This program can extract the game files into .obj files (models) and .dds files (textures), you can import .obj files in any 3D program, you have to convert the .dds files into .png or .jpeg to be able to use it. The rig is not exported with the model, so you have to redo the rigging and skinning. This is very long but It allows some crazy possibilities for videomaking!
