This is the start of a small series where I take a look at the basics of using RPG Maker MZ. No plugins, no external assets, only what it comes installed with.
You wouldn't start learning carpentry by making a floor-to-ceiling library with fancy scroll work, no you'd start by making a box. This tutorial is the RPG Maker equivalent of slapping together some boards and making a box. What you will have at the end of this tutorial is a very solid understanding of RPG Maker basics including map creation, events, and battles that you can use on more complicated projects.
In this video we add random encounters and a boss battle.
