God and the State was written between February and March 1871. It was originally intended as the second part of a larger work called The Knouto-Germanic Empire and the Social Revolution (from кнут or knut, whip in Russian). The first part, for its part, dealt with the background to the Franco-Prussian war and a general history of European resistance to imperialism. God and the State, as well as much of Bakunin's work, remained unfinished and unordered. This is not unusual, particularly since none of Bakunin's written works are, in fact, complete. When Bakunin was criticized for it, he replied: "My life is a fragment." God and the State is in fact a fragment: the book has some paragraphs, including the one that constitutes the end of the book, which end abruptly in the middle of a sentence, likewise, it is also possible to find footnotes of up to five paragraphs of length.

Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1651-1695) was a "novo hispana" religious and writer. She is the author of a baroque literature of the highest invoice, which gave her prestige and recognition in both New Spanish and Spanish high society. She is considered one of the greatest exponents of the Spanish golden century.
Octavio Paz says that in colonial times, the court and the cloister's parlor were the only spaces in which a woman could elbow intellectually with men. And Sor Juana, who avoided marriage to dedicate herself to letters, knew how to take advantage of these spaces very well.
Her work encompasses a diversity of literary genres, among which the theater, the auto sacramental and the lyric stand out. Within the context of her lyrical work, Sor Juana wrote sonnets, redondillas, décimas, romances and many other literary forms.

It was represented for the first time on October 4, 1683, during the celebrations for the birth of the first-born of the viceroy Count of Paredes; it coincided with the entry into Mexico City of the new Archbishop Francisco de Aguiar y Seijas.
The story revolves around two couples who love each other but, by chance of fate, they cannot be together yet. This comedy of entanglements is one of the most outstanding works of late-Baroque Spanish-American literature and one of its most peculiar characteristics is the woman as the guiding axis of the story: a strong and determined character who expresses the longings - often frustrated - of the nun . Doña Leonor, the protagonist, fits perfectly into this archetype.
It is considered, often, as the summit of Sor Juana's work in verse and even of all New Spanish literature. The handling of intrigue, the representation of the complicated system of conjugal relations and the vicissitudes of urban life constitute Los empeños de una casa as a rare work within the theater in colonial Latin America.
