Earlier this week, Jesse and I decided to check out the Kaslo Viewpoint trail for a casual afternoon hike with the pugs. What was intended to be a short, simple outing turned into a full-fledged Grumble Adventure as we climbed a series of switchbacks to the top, encountering an adorable garter snake and enjoying the beautiful, vibrant wildflowers along the way.
The viewpoint itself was absolutely breathtaking - it touched my heart being able to gaze out upon the place we now call home from such an incredible vantage point. Not only could we see our apartment and the iconic S.S. Moyie sternwheeler, but the beautiful bay that has already captured so many memories of afternoons spent swimming with the pugs sat humbly before us like a picturesque postcard waiting to be sent away for someone else's viewing pleasure. The Kaslo Bay Estates - a common point-of-interest in our Insta stories, and another video on its own - peeked subtly through the trees below.
After tossing the drone up into the sky to capture a few aerials, we prepared for our descent by tucking Jonas inside of his new K9 Sportsack - needless to say, we were NOT disappointed. Please enjoy the heart-seizing level of cuteness that is our grumpy old man experiencing the luxury of being swaddled and carried through the forest on his Mama's back. Livin' the dream, J-man ?
Enjoy the adventure, you guys - thanks for watching!
About the Kaslo Viewpoint Hike
The Kaslo Viewpoint trail is short, sweet, and steep! Winding up along a pleasant forest path, you will arrive at a scenic bench overlooking Kaslo, Kootenay Lake, and the towering Purcell Mountains.
This trail is part of a bigger network developed by the Kaslo Outdoor Recreation & Trails Society. You’ll encounter several junctions leading up to longer and higher trails as you hike. The Viewpoint Trail goes up to the scenic viewpoint, but a nice loop can be hiked by heading down the other connecting trails.

Jesse & I decided to take the pugs for a walk along a trail we had noticed off the side of the highway. It was beautiful and lush, following alongside still, serene lake that reflected the mountains surrounding us like a clean mirror. Some way down the path, we noticed an old hunting cabin nestled in between a thick of trees and decided to walk up to take a closer look...
