This is another laser/led hybrid unit that is not repairable within reason. The laser module had failed from running too hot as the projector was packed with dust/crud. A new laser unit would be $600+ for a projector you can find used for $350.
There were two different repair options but the cost effectiveness of the repair was not to be. Not matter what, I kept landing around $600-800 in parts and labor. I ended up returning it to the gym it came from and warned them about lack of maintenance. They were annoyed at Panasonic as they expected 20,000+ out of it rather than the 9,000 hours it ran for.
I decided to upload this to show the insides and how it works. Originally it was going to be 3 videos but since it was a non-repair, I put it all together.
Lamp based projectors are still the most reliable in my opinion. Solid state light sources are improving all the time and they will replace lamp based units entirely soon.
I did end up buying a used PT-RW330(with a failing laser source) so if you have any requests to see anything about this model let me know.
Replacing the light tunnel in an Optoma TWR1693 DLP projector that had a shadow on the left side due to the light tunnel not being aligned. I show how to replace it.
I tried to upload this as one video but it was too long. Here is part 2. https://youtu.be/aA-2cKPNYzI

This was dropped off by a local school with their Polyvisions sometime late 2019. I replaced the damaged power connector after tracking down the part number on Mouser.com. I was lucky in that the rest of this video was lost but I was able to recover it off an old backup. Thanks for waiting.
These are used for showing books and other flat objects through a projector or a computer monitor. I have seen them used to show microscopes on screen as well. I am not super familiar with their uses but I am sure many of you use these regularly.
I messed up the opening title page but rather than re-export the video, there is going to be a white block up for an extra second or 2.

Here is another video of a Goodwill score. NewInBox Telezapper. It used out-of-service DTMF tones If I recall correctly to get your number removed from the RoboDialer. I don't have a landline or I would have plugged it in. Nothing special but a clever piece of old tech and manufacturing.

This is one of those holiday decoration projectors that you shine on a sheer screen that goes over your window. Found it at Goodwill today and for $6, seemed worth it. The button keyboard was messed up so I decided to make a teardown, repair video. Projector is really akin to the white speaker van scam projectors you hear about on occasion.

This EVision 6800 was sent into my day job after a new set of lamp assemblies did not solve their problem. Turns out they had a lot more wrong than just some old lamp assemblies.
After some deep mainboard troubleshooting, I found a bad chip. A big important looking chip.
Since the projector was left with me, I am considering repairing it myself. It would make a great home theater projector(nice and bright) or amazing for outside use.
I did talk to DPI but they did not have that mainboard anymore. After some research, I am almost 100% sure that this is similar to a few Vivitek models. I might see if I can find a scrap Vivitek and grab its mainboard, and/or order that chip. My only reservation about ordering the chip is if it has custom firmware. I can't load that so it would have to get its firmware from the outboard eepoms.
Let me know if you want to see me fix this. If you are interested and can afford it, kick me a few bucks so I can order the chip first. We'll try that before we replace the mainboard.
If you like to see the not repairable projectors, let me know. I will post more unrepairable projector jobs to show what led me to that conclusion.
here are the other models that are very similar to this one.

Repairing and Optoma HD70 that had no light output. I thought it was capacitors but it ends up being the ballast/lamp driver

This is going to be two parts instead of one. This part is disassembly and diagnosis of an Optoma HD70 DLP Projector that I have had been graced with. The issue was no power indications.
To me, it looks like someone else had it open for cleaning or possibly to repair the screw threads on the back(they had glue in them). I think they put the ribbon cable back in wrong and it wasn't making proper connection. You'll see I was quite surprised.
Part 2 will be up and coming. I am putting a new lamp in and want to clean it up a little more internally. I did this first part at home where I do not have an air compressor. Once Part 2 is up, I will update this description with a link.
I will probably sell this projector so if you are interested, let me know and we can work something out.
Thanks for watching and if you need a lamp, you can get one here. It'll be the same brand that I install. SP.80N01.001 lamp with PHoenix SHP bulb

My Galaxy S8 stops recording at 10minutes. Allegedly to prevent overheating (which I can see) as it gets hot. This is part 2.5 of the color wheel replacement and re-assembly of the (Pd)Projection Design iVision 30 sx+. Part3 has the startup and general testing.
