*The Sphingidae are a family of moths (Lepidoptera) called sphinx moths, also colloquially known as hawk moths, with many of their caterpillars known as “hornworms”; it includes about 1,450 species. It is best represented in the tropics, but species are found in every region. They are moderate to large in size and are distinguished among moths for their agile and sustained flying ability, similar enough to that of hummingbirds as to be reliably mistaken for them. Their narrow wings and streamlined abdomens are adaptations for rapid flight. The family was named by French zoologist Pierre André Latreille in 1802.*

Belostomatidae is a family of freshwater hemipteran insects known as giant water bugs or colloquially as toe-biters, Indian Toe-biters, electric-light bugs, alligator ticks, or alligator fleas (in Florida). They are the largest insects in the order Hemiptera. There are about 170 species found in freshwater habitats worldwide, with more than 110 in the Neotropics, more than 20 in Africa, almost as many in the Nearartic, and far fewer elsewhere. These predators are typically encountered in freshwater ponds, marshes and slow-flowing streams. Most species are at least 2 cm (0.8 in) long, although smaller species, down to 0.9 cm (0.35 in), also exist. The largest are members of the genus Lethocerus, which can exceed 12 cm (4.5 in) and nearly reach the length of some of the largest beetles in the world. Giant water bugs are a popular food in parts of Asia.

My bass was hatched in my crayfish farm on a log I brought in from the bottom of pond that was perfectly hollow. Little did I know a Bass had thought the same thing. Fast forward 7 years and that Bass is my favorite fish friend ever. Intelligent and aggressive, Bass has been in high spirits this week after I caught some green crabs down at the ocean and brought them back for it to snack on. Salty snacks are hard to come by for freshwater pond fish, Bass gets really excited about crabs.

Chad on the left, and Virgil up in the hut on the right. They're a couple of fully grown babies, Adult kittens. I wanted a couple cats that stayed kittens forever and I seemed to have gotten my wish. They fight and play like good brothers should, and even after a good battle they sleep side by side. They ambush and antagonize each other all day, have slap fights then share toys in game time. They have a good life and they know it.

This broke my heart. Met this raccoon last night and it seemed off at a glance, so I followed it and called it to me with a snack. I sat in the middle of the road for about twenty minutes with this little critter last night, it was dark and I couldn't tell the extent of it's injury until it licked me. poor thing has had it's nose and upper jaw taken clean off. I'll be doing everything I can for this animal now.
