This is not a drill. If you understand french, you will realize how she skillfully packaged the dread and fear of this event by using sarcasm and humor.
The first time I watched it, I couldn't even laugh. That's how hardcore the message was.
She got mugged in the middle of the road, while people were watching, right on the street in Douala, Cameroon.
For many of us in Cameroon, this is not even a surprising story. We've heard of uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. But to hear someone who lived the tell the tale is something else.
I just had to react to this because that's how incredulous it felt when I first watched it. You can't make this up.

Elena Tucker and I became friends through Medium. I found an article she'd written about her city--Aurora, CO-- which also happens to be...MY CITY ( at the time anyway). A few clicks away, and on a beautiful Thursday afternoon ( or was it Tuesday?) we had the first of many coffees.
She has the most hilarious stories steeped in her devotion to her family and spiritual journey. The first time we met, although we couldn't look or sound any more different than we already are, it was amazing to find out that we had shared feelings about America, immigration, family, careers, and life in general. Cameroon is rich! We have over 250+ tribes! And this time, I'm reacting to Cameroon! I've been looking forward to this one. You may or may not know that I was born and raised in #Cameroon until 2018 when I moved to the US. I love my country. I'm 100% Cameroonian.
Cameroon is called "Africa in miniature" for a good reason. Diverse climate, diverse geography, diverse languages. All in a small triangular kingdom.
I finally came around to doing this reaction, and to be honest, it reminded me of how much work we still have as a country.
Sure, this video was since 2015, but a lot of what was said was closer to the truth about life in Cameroon than not.

If you're reading this, then I have published the longest video I have ever edited so far on this channel. It's about my divorce.
In October 2020, my spouse asked for a separation. In February, she filed for a divorce and in May, the final decree was signed.
We met in high school 15 years ago. I moved to the US to join her in 2018.
Between the time we've been separated and now, I've struggled to create. This channel has been a place where I could escape ( hello reaction videos!).
However, sometimes, I disappeared and no matter how I kept gaining subscribers from my reaction videos, I still had that gnawing weight of not being with the person I had vowed to be with.
In this vlog, I take you through my day and ramble on about the story, how it happened, what I learned, and even a small message for my ex-wife.
I was going to give up on this because the edit took too long and honestly, I don't like the way I look in the video. My hair. My weight. My non-verbal cues. Eh.
But I decided I'll publish it. This is for me. This is me burning up the letters and casting the ash into the sea. This is me looking at myself and not flinching. Accepting that I have work to do, for me and no one else.
It's reclaiming my drive and creativity. And also giving a chance for the people who saw us on the channel to understand we're no longer together.
Like Agent Smith said: Everything that has a beginning, has an end.

This is my first time at a car show here in the US. I'm not exactly a car person, but I was a little curious to find out why Americans love cars so much. Of course, this is a generalized statement. Not ALL Americans love cars with a passion.
And from what my friend Willie told me, there's a lot more behind it all than just mindless capitalist obsession.
The car show was in Pueblo.
This is my first vlog. Never thought I'd do this and here we are with me planning my next Saturday escapade for more B-roll and learning how to shoot better. All the moving shots of me talking were taken with my Canon EOS M50 using the kit lens. I decided to try this thing where I use only one lens for any "major" project, so I can master my camera better.
Also, all the music you hear is from Musicbed. Pretty cool huh? I decided to not color grade this as a last-minute concession because I realized that I don't have the skill- yet. In a way, I am willing to sacrifice the look at this time to learn how to tell a story.
While editing this, I realized the gap I had in my knowledge and for some reason, it made me excited, knowing that each time I film and edit one of these, my video skills will grow exponentially.
Plus, I got to use my 18mm Moment Lens (FINALLY!) which I thought was incredibly wide.
With all the footage I got from both my phone (note 9 with moment lens) and my Canon M50), I am surprised I was able to bring this down to below 20 minutes.
