Vaccine Passports in Church and Society - Church Leaders in Conversation
https://vaccinepassportletter.wordpress.com/ In this special episode, Rev Dr Jamie Franklin speaks with some of the co-authors and principal signatories of the Open Letter from Christian Leaders to the Prime Minister Concerning Vaccine Passport Proposals from April 2020. In light of the announcements in July that Vaccine Passports are set to become a reality in nightclubs and other crowded venues, we discuss the three main points of our original letter, which has now been reopened for signatures and will be resent to the PM and all MPs. We contend that these proposals are illogical and irrelevant from a medical and scientific standpoint, that they are immoral from a societal standpoint and that they are unacceptable to the Church and impossible theologically.
If you are a Christian leader in a church or a Christian organisation, we ask that you consider signing this letter. Whoever you are, please share it far and wide on your social media channels and in any other appropriate way. Thank you!
Joining Rev Jamie were Rev Dr William Philip of the Tron Church in Glasgow, Rev David Johnson of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and Rev Paul Levy of the Ealing International Presbyterian Church in London.

In this episode Church of England vicars Thomas Pelham and Jamie Franklin get together to offer a spiritual perspective on current events, this week taking our Scriptural reflection from Philippians 2:5-11: Christ making himself nothing through the cross in order to serve God. In current events we touch on the latest brutal Shanghai lockdown, Boris Johnson's recent GB News interview in which he said (among other outlandish things) that he would lockdown again, transgenderism as a religious sensibility, Russophobia and more!

In light of the fact that our regular episode is different this week, Reverend Jamie shares a couple of notices and leads us through the next section of the Book of Revelation, encouraging us to keep our eyes fixed on the glory of Jesus Christ in this Advent and season, regardless of what political turmoil is going on around us. The Scripture this week is taken from Revelation 1:10-16.

Revs Tom and Jamie sit down to discuss a sad week which saw the brutal murder of one of the few great men in public life, Sir David Ames. We discuss the political, religious and cultural issues that this event raises, and we celebrate something of the goodness of the man himself. We also look at an article by Tom Woodman which confesses that he cannot bring himself to have children because of the apocalyptic threat that the climate change phenomenon presents to us. We also review the decision of Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali to swim the Tiber and convert from Anglicanism to Roman Catholicism.
Our Scripture this week is taken from Psalm 8.

For this very special episode, Church of England revs with a difference Thomas Pelham and Jamie Franklin sat down in the same room to catch up on all the talking points in church and state. This time: we review the responses to Hamas' brutal killing of men, women and children on October 7th. The October Declaration says that we should stand by British Jews and condemns antisemitic violence, whilst London's streets are flooded with pro-Palestinian supporters calling for jihad and the cleansing of the land of Israel. Meanwhile, an American poll shows that over half of 16-25 year-olds believe that the October 7th attacks were justified.
In addition, we follow up on the feedback from last week's story about alleged corruption in the highest ranks of the University and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) and MP Ben Bradshaw seeks to use his political position in order to bring about doctrinal and practical changes in the Church of England's approach to marriage and human sexuality. Will he succeed?
That and much much more as ever!

For this special episode of the podcast, Rev'd Dr Jamie Franklin is joined by Dr Ali Haggart, academic and practitioner in the areas of mental health and well-being, and Rev'd Dr William Philip, former cardiologist and senior minister of the Tron Church, Glasow, to discuss the neglect and abuse of residents in the UK's care homes. Restriction of visitors, blanket do not resuscitate orders, exposure of the elderly to infection when the nation was told they had been put within a "protective ring", shoddy practices around medical certificates of cause of death and the redefinition of "end of life" to restrict access of loved ones at crucial moments: what does the treatment of the elderly and those who are in care reveal about the nature of society and is there anything that can be done about it?
