NOFX was scheduled to close out what was supposedly the very last Warped Tour punk rock music festival in the SF Bay area. Fat Mike and the gang had some logistical issues involving "a fleet of private jets" and ended up running late so Kevin Lyman told some stories and stalled for time. He asked the other bands if they knew any NOFX songs they could come and play. Most of them were like "I think my big brother used to listen to them?" Sum 41 (who used to be a NOFX cover band) played a few songs while various vocalists tried to remember the lyrics with help from the crowd. Then, like a bolt of lightening from on high, Thrice came out and did a face-melting ground-pounding throw-down of "Linoleum" that got the whole stadium slamming and singing along. Made it all worth the wait! :D The audio is crap but it's a piece of history that I thought deserving of digital enshrinement in the annals of YouTube. It was a full moon and I was playing my ukulele. I turned to face the moon head on and when I stared up into it, I could feel it staring back into me. I was thinking about my grandma who had just passed away and about how we are all standing on the shoulders of our ancestors. None of us would be here today without generations of people we will never meet making enormous sacrifices. I was thinking about how the face of the full moon sort of looks like a yin yang symbol and how all of life is a balancing act. This was one of those songs that just sort of erupted out of me fully formed.
