How to Find Your Values & What is Important to You in Life | Core Values & Motivation

In this video I am going to show you how to elicit your own value systems. We hear people talk about values but what are values? Values are frames of mind that motivate you towards or away-from a behaviour. As such the more you know about them then the more you have control over your own destiny.
Eliciting values is fun and it reveals an awful lot about why you do what you. So if you want to be an amazing success in manifesting your dreams then listen carefully. I might suggest that it could be a good idea for you to pause the video at various stages so that you can take some notes – because this is a do-it-yourself values elicitation video.
Okay so take a piece of paper and have pen in hand.
Values are context dependent. That means you have to elicit values for each context that is relevant. Some contexts are life, relationships, career, business, health, sport – even down to buying a product such as a car – or going on a date. In some cases we call them values – in others we call them criteria. Either way they influence the decisions that you make or don’t make.
How To Elicit Values i.e. How to Find Your Values
Start by deciding upon a relevant context. In the following example the context is ‘career’.
We start by asking the question: what is important to you in an ‘x’? Where ‘x’ is the context. So in this case we ask the 43 old female client, what is important to you in a career?
Now keep in mind that the secret to accurate values elicitation is to ask intelligent questions and answer them honestly, without interpretation or rationalisation by the conscious mind. Typically we take the first thing the person says. Which could be a single word like ‘family’ or a phrase like ‘helping people’. Write down the exact words that the person says – don’t paraphrase and reinterpret what they say or you will mess it up. The same goes for eliciting your own values – just write down the exact thought that comes to mind.
So in the example below I asked the question: what is important to you in a career and she says ‘respect’.
So I write down the word ‘respect’. Then I ask and what else is important to you in a career? And she answers ‘helping people’. So I write that down under the word respect. Then I ask and what else is important to you in a career and she replies, ‘being a good team leader’. So I add that to the list.
So you keep on asking the question, what is important to you in a career until she runs out of answers. And then ask and what are the emotions that are important for you to experience on a consistent basis. Write down the answers. Watch the video...

About Terry Macartney:
Terry was born in Sydney some 65 years ago and grew up mainly on the northern beaches.
In his 20’s, he built a 36 foot yacht which when launched became his home and platform for many years of sailing and cruising the East Australian Seaboard and the Pacific.
This nomadic lifestyle led to New Zealand in 1991. A decision was made to move ashore, to the idyllic Waiheke Island, and the next 27 years were spent there. During this time, Terry was involved in the building industry, which saw projects ranging from partnering in a joinery business, to project management of major domestic renovations, each with budgets greater than 1 million dollars.
9 years ago he was introduced to the exotic world of trading, initially stocks and shares and then the more complex world of Foreign Exchange. It rapidly grew from an interest, to a passionate hobby, to a to a fulltime occupation. He currently lives in Ocean Shores, NSW (having returned to Australia 3 years ago) where he trades full time from home and has designed and established an Accountability Coaching practice for other FX traders.
His aim with his coaching program is to enable greater profitability by bringing conscious awareness to why we do things the way we do them. What are the mental and emotional biases that tend to orchestrate our actions? This clarity is extremely important for successful trading and as such is a model for living an holistic life.
A common thread through his life has been an active interest in things spiritual and mystical, and in some indefinable way, this interest, and all of his life experiences, have come together in the context of trading. It represents a synthesis of all of his life’s learnings and yearnings, and has become a metaphor for a way to act in life at a dynamic, organic, interactive, and creative level.

In this NLP video I am going to show you how your thoughts can either work for or against you – and how you can transform your life using a simple yet powerful questioning technique.
Building a Framework for Positive Thinking
We start with our present state, the present situation, the problem. You need just enough information about the present state to give you an understanding of it but if you ask too many “why” questions like, “Why do you get anxious, why do you stress, why do you smoke, why are sales low this month?” – then you get a because, a because, a because – which tends to reinforce the problem.
So in NLP we shift our attention across to the desired outcome and we ask questions like:
1. What is the problem that needs to be addressed, if any, and what is the desired outcome?
2. What will the desired outcome specifically look like, sound like and feel like?
3. When do you want the outcome; where do you want the outcome; with whom do you want the outcome?
Then we get to the why. Why do you want the outcome? Why else do you want the outcome? So you elicit all the reasons why you might want the outcome. This helps build the motivation to take action.
And then we get into the how – questions like, “Do you know what to do?” So we have shifted our attention away from the present state to the desired outcome.
This brings us to the use of questions, statements and commands. You ask questions that are useful – then you make statements – and then you give yourself commands and tell yourself to go take action towards the desired outcome. Over arching all of that will be some higher frames of mind. Remember he who sets the frame controls the game.
The most important question is, “Do your thoughts serve you?”

In this NLP video I am going to show you how to work with NLP Meta Programs. The easiest way to learn about NLP Meta Programs is to study them in relationship to personality types. We start by exploring two dimensions from the Myers Briggs. This fits in well with NLP.
On the vertical axis we have intuition versus sensing.
On the horizontal axis we have introversion versus extroversion.
We get a cross and then we draw a square.
Using Roger Hamilton’s Wealth Dynamics Profile we get eight personality types. The Creator, Mechanic, Lord, Accumulator, Trader, Deal Maker, Supporter and the Star.

So moving around the square, for example, we find that an introverted creator creates the first motor vehicle; the mechanic improves upon it; the lord buys a fleet of vehicles and rents them out; the accumulator invests money in the motor vehicle manufacturer; the introverted trader might trade in shares or might deliver some form of service; the extroverted trader might sell cars; the deal maker connects people and businesses together in the transport industry; the supporter manages the corporate team, while the star is out on stage promoting the business.
So are all Creators the same? Are all Mechanics the same? Of course not. There are differences within each of the Wealth Dynamics personality types. Significant differences that can make a huge difference to how the person thinks, and how they perform. You need to understand these distinctions if you want to tap into your genius and we do that with NLP Meta Programs.
Meta Programs are perceptual filters that generally operate out of conscious awareness. They filter perception and determine your preferences in how you think, feel and act. For example, do you tend to focus on the negative or the positive? Do you prefer the big picture or the details? Do you prefer to gather a lot of information before you make a decision or are you quick to action? Are you more options or procedural? Is your attention on self or other? Etc, etc.
So what we are going to do is take a look at 23 meta programs and see how they relate to the Wealth Dynamics Personality Types.
1. Internal Processes: Intuition/Sensing.
2. External Behaviour: Introversion/Extroversion.
3. Work Preference Filter: People/Systems/Things.
4. Primary Interest Filter: People/Places/Things/Activities/Information.
5. Work Style: Independent/Team Player/Manager/Bureaucrat/Follower.
6. Scenario Type: Negative/Positive - Pessimism/Optimism.
7. Time Sort: Past/Present/Future.
8. Scale: Global/Details
9. Adaptation: Perceiving/Judging.
10. Organisational Style: Options/Procedures.
11. Quality of Life: Be/Do/Have.
12. Internal State: Thinking/Feeling.
13. Attention Direction: Self/Other.
14. Relationship Comparison: Match/Mismatch - Sameness/Difference.
15. Direction and Motivation: Towards/Away-From.
16. Response: Reflection/Action.
17. Frame of Reference: Authority source: Internal/External.
18. Reason or Modal Operator Sort: Necessity / Possibility.
19. Classification Scale: Either Or/And.
20. Information Staging: Counting/Discounting - Foreground/Background.
21. Representation System: Visual/Auditory/Kinesthetic (VAK).

There are many techniques and procedures used to help people heal the past and many techniques and procedures on how to build a better future – but intrinsic to all of these procedures is your ability to manage the thoughts that you have in the cinema of your mind. Think of it this way. As you move through life you encode what you experience in the world in the cinema of your mind in pictures, sounds, feelings, smells and taste. That is in your five representational systems of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory and gustatory – which gets shortened to VAKOG – and since most of us mainly use visual, auditory and kinesthetic this gets shortened to VAK.
Everyone has a cinema in their mind. In most cases your past memories will be encoded in VAK – in pictures, sounds and feelings. What I would like you to understand is that your memories are just pictures, sounds and feelings. Now imagine that your memories are on a hard drive on a computer – and that you could edit the memories in any way that you like? You could delete memories – you could change the memories using Photoshop – and you could create new memories – such that you could create a totally new past such that when you think back to the past you have memories that support you in the present. Would that be something that you would like to learn? And in addition to rewriting the past you can use the same skill set to imagine the future of your dreams.
How does this work? Start by thinking of yourself as a film director. As the film director you use your internal dialogue to direct the unconscious mind to create a movie in the cinema of your mind. This is a creative visualisation process. Watch the video and try it out...

Do you believe in past lives? Some people think it is total fantasy and yet there seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence that gives it some credence. For example, there is the case of an English girl – I think she was about 3 years of age. When her parents drove past a cemetery she would point to the cemetery and say something to the effect, “I come from there”. On further discussion she told her parents that she was buried in a coffin with her favourite doll in that cemetery.
This got the parents thinking because a year before the little girl was born their previous child had died – and was buried in that cemetery – and take note of this – the parents had initially put the child’s doll in the coffin but then removed it. However, the grandmother, unbeknownst to the parents had secretly put the doll back in the coffin.
So the parents went back to the cemetery and exhumed the coffin – and low and behold the doll was in the coffin. There are many stories like this but what I think most people want is empirical evidence for themselves.
And that is where I come in – I am an Osho Zen Sannyasin – a seeker of truth – and some years ago I developed a simple procedure to explore my past lives. I wrote up the procedure and put it into an online course on my website.
And what I think makes my Past Life Regression course different to other past life regression methods is that you can do this sitting at your dinner table with your eyes open.

THE SOCRATIC METHOD COMPARED TO NLP CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
The Socratic Method has three main steps:
1. State the belief, assertion, opinion.
2. Look for evidence to support the belief.
3. Challenge assumptions.
The NLP Meta Model and the NLP Peace Mapping Models are far superior in that they give you a structure and a questioning methodology that invites you to challenge the topic from every possible angle in order to discover high quality information.
The Socratic questioning technique is more for philosophers whereas the NLP Meta Model and NLP Peace Mapping Models are for seekers of truth.
The Socratic Method lacks a detailed questioning structure whereas the NLP Meta Model and NLP Peace Mapping Models give you a precise questioning methodology.
In this video you will learn how to use your NLP tools to critically analyse and fact check anything and everything that is presented to you. The process is actually quite simple - the hard bit is the mindfulness to stay in sensory awareness and be curious.

FUTURE SELFING EXERCISE
You take a large piece of butchers paper and you start by listing your present state or problems on the left side of the page and then you list your desired outcomes at the top right of the page. You draw a box for a ‘to-do list’ at the bottom right of the page – and then using questions, statements and commands you map out the steps and stages that are required for you to move from your present state to your desired outcome. It is also helpful to refer to the NLP Well Formed Outcome Questions. So I suggest that you collaborate with like minded people. That you either find or create an environment in which you flourish. You make friends with people who share similar passions and interests – and you learn how to team up together to maximise your potential and your enjoyment.

How to find your life's purpose using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). How to find meaning in life using NLP? How to build motivation using NLP communication model? Discover what is really important to you in life? Start by identifying what do you value?
In this video, NLP Coach, Abby Eagle interviews Tara Hopkins, eliciting her values and mapping out the meaning - using NLP.
Tara Hopkins was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia by herself when she was 18 years old. She is an actor and has been in a number of feature films and movies - Scooby Doo, Gettin Square and San Andres.
She has also played in the TV series: Beast Master, The Outsiders and Mortified.
Tara studied at The Actors Conservatory in Brisbane and graduated in 2010 with an advanced diploma. She continues to attend classes with her agent, Vox Talent.
She is a mother of one, has explored Peru and a few other countries and believes that every different nation has something positive to offer. She currently drives a mobile food van to pay her bills however she desires to leave her mark somehow in her lifetime, to help bring about a positive change in perspective and consciousness.
She's very passionate about thinking outside the square and believes in focusing on solutions rather than problems. Tara's frustrations lie with history repeating itself time and time again and she would love to figure out a way to contribute new ideas that can not only be heard but listened to.
Her long term goal is to create freedom in our minds, hearts and souls and let go of all that does not serve us anymore.

TITLE: Introducing Abby Eagle's Youtube Channel: How to Deal With Haters and Criticism and Faciliate Peaceful Outcomes with NLP.
DESCRIPTION: As at May 2018 there is an estimated 7.5 billion people in the world. There are 6,500 languages. There are 19 major religions and 270 large religious groups. There are approximately 270 nationalities. There are thousands of ethnic groups.
Wherever there is a difference there is the opportunity for judgement, misunderstanding and conflict. You might think that having a good discussion might solve things. It some case it will but the odds are it won’t. And shutting people down with hate speech laws is not a method of argumentation – it just demonstrates that some people lack the ability to have an intelligent conversation.
So what is the solution? The solution is to learn how to communicate. Not what to think but how to communicate and NLP and Neuro Semantics give you some linguistic tools to do just that – and what I have done with this youtube channel is to take some of the key NLP and Neuro Semantic tools and present them in a way that makes them accessible to the average person.
In brief we start with learning about personality type. I suggest you start with the 8 cognitive functions as used in the Myers Briggs type personality tests. This will give you the key to your genius. Then have a look at the Big 5 personality model. Then fine tune the distinctions using NLP Meta Programs.
And then do what is really dear to my heart – and that is to learn how to elicit and recognise values. Especially political values and moral values. Then learn how to map meaning using the Neuro Semantic meaning questions. And then you get to learn the most powerful tool in the NLP arsenal and that is the NLP Meta Model. Use it to gather high quality information. In addition you need to be able to specify the topic of conversation and track it as it shifts.
What we want to do is give everyone the opportunity to express their thoughts and their individuality. Then map out the structure of how they think such that all involved in the conversation might gain greater clarity and understanding in why people do what they do.
At the end of the day each and every person just wants to be heard. Everyone is driven in some way to raise their level of consciousness. So this channel is not about spin doctoring, distorting facts and winning an argument – it is not about proving a point - but about expanding our minds such that we might learn to accept, appreciate and perhaps even hold some awe for the diversity of opinions, behaviours, race, culture, religion and spirituality that exist on this planet; such that we might learn to embrace our differences; such that new understandings might arise in our minds and our hearts; such that we might be inspired to bring about some positive, peaceful change in the world.

I have a big plan that I have been working on for a number of years now and I am ready to share it with you. What I need from you is to know if you think it’s a good plan and if you want to help me with it. I am also interested to hear any suggestions that you might have in how I could improve upon it.
What I want to do is to teach people how to ask questions. I don’t want to tell people what to think – I want to teach people how to think. For example on the subject of nutrition, there are just too many people telling others what to eat, in many cases based upon their personal interests. Everyone says something different. So how do we know who we can trust? The solution is to teach people how to do their own research.
There are numerous topics where people are told what to think – for example, health, nutrition, vaccinations, climate change, history, politics, religion and so forth. We have got to the point where we can no longer trust the media to deliver us the facts. Which means we need some way to check the so called news. And I can give you the tools to do just that. In a sense I want to show each and every person in the world how to be an investigative journalist. My motto is – challenge everything for the truth.
Our team of truth seekers can be divided into two groups. Patrons and Crew. Patrons watch the videos and provide funding to keep the operation going. If you are my patron then I want you to understood that I appreciate you very much. You are number one. Without you we could not exist.
Then we have the film production crew. The crew do everything from market research, shooting the film; editing the footage, and promoting the videos both online and offline which helps us to build a subscriber base, which feeds back into the Patron group so that we get more funds to keep the project going.
