Neighbour’s STRANGE Video Catches A Killer
In the early morning hours of December 6th, 2014, a man named Rob Leef was too excited to sleep. While almost everyone else in his Austin, Texas neighbourhood had called it a night, he was busy walking the quiet residential streets, geeking out over a cool new piece of tech he had recently purchased. The device in question was a scope for one of his rifles which was equipped with a thermal imaging camera. The camera was designed to detect heat radiation given off by living things and essentially allowed Rob to see in the dark. This is why he was out despite the late hour — he was hoping to get some footage of deer. And, since his neighbourhood backed onto a sizeable plot of woodland, this seemed like the perfect time and place for a test.

It turned out that Rob’s instincts couldn’t have been more correct, though not in the way that he initially anticipated. You see, while shuffling through the settings of his camera that morning he inadvertently recorded something a whole lot more important than the local wildlife.

When we think of crimes like murder or assault, we tend to think of physical brutality. Weapons like guns, knives, clubs, or even fists that are actively used by an attacker to damage a victim’s body. Then there is poison, a weapon that has been around since antiquity, and notably stands apart from these other methods. Rather than requiring an assailant to be in close proximity to their victim, a poisoner relies on stealth and precision, and need not be anywhere near the scene of the crime when an attack takes place. Though poisoning can mean an equally or in some cases even more brutal death for the victim, the truly haunting part is how cold and calculated these cases can be, sometimes taking place over a period of weeks or even months. Today we wanted to take a look at a few examples of such cases, focusing specifically on unsolved poisoning cases that we found particularly chilling. We’ve also opted to include 1 bonus story for this list that is related to the theme but not quite as severe as the others. Okay so right off the bat, let’s just acknowledge the elephant in the room — we told you last week that we were going to take a break from doing dumb and weird crime stories since we’d already done two Thursday videos in a row like that.
