Here at CigarScore, we love entrepreneurship. And, today's cigar comes from a fellow entrepreneur, Nick Perdomo. Today we're reviewing the Perdomo Estate Selection Vintage Maduro Imperio Toro, a cigar purchased from a store outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Upon releasing the ESV Imperio from its cellophane prison, the cigar gave off a floral aroma that also smelled of the bourbon barrels in which its tobacco was aged. After cutting the end, the cold draw had a fantastic amount of resistance.
Once the cigar was lit and I could get a few puffs, my first impressions were that the Perdomo ESV Imperio Maduro was very similar to the Perdomo 20th Anniversary, but not quite as bold.
However, merely seconds after torching the foot of the cigar, the ESV Imperio popped open at the foot. And, over the next several minutes, I could hear tiny pops, almost like popcorn, coming from the cigar. While the Perdomo ESV Imperio Maduro Toro is giving my a terrible first impression, I keep an open mind, and trudge forward.

Through the first 45-minutes of the Perdomo ESV, the burn was terrible. Visually, the cigar looked awful. However, starting at about the 45 minute mark, things evened up, the cigar settled into its fate, and things started to go better.
Final Thoughts
Let's be honest, the first third of this Perdomo Estate Selection Vintage Maduro Imperio Toro was a visual disaster. However, even through all of the crack, popping, and splitting of the first 45-minutes, the flavors were pretty good.
If you didn't look at the cigar, even through the rough patches (ie the first 1/2), you would likely enjoy it. So, reducing the score by only one point for major construction issues, the Perdomo Estate Se

Very few cigar manufacturers fit my palate as close as Fratello Cigars. For the most part, every Fratello blend comes out great. So, for today's cigar, the Fratello Oro in the corona vitola, I have high hopes.
Right off the bat, the Fratello Oro Corona has a great looking wrapper that reminds me of a toasted pancake or waffle. The wrapper's aroma is almost sweet, like cake.
On the cold draw, the flavors were of citrus, and were perhaps a little sour. Once the cigar was lit, the draw was spot on, but the sour flavors still came through.
And, while Fratello Cigars has blends made at several different places, The Fratello Oro comes from the La Aurora factory in Nicaragua.

the-nomad-toro-by-ezra-zion-and-nomad
One interesting and cool thing about going to cigar events is that you sometimes get cigars you couldn't get elsewhere. And that's sort of the case with today's cigar, the Nomad Toro by Ezra Zion, a.k.a., the Nomad by Ezra Zion Cigars House Blend, which I got at Underground Cigar Shop's NFG 2020, in Fort Worth, Texas.
On the cold draw, the Nomad Toro was so light, I couldn't pick up much flavor. However, after torching the closed foot, I was greeted with an easy draw and plenty of smoke.

Final Thoughts:
Despite what the Nomad Cigars website told me, I don't think this Nomad House Blend has a maduro wrapper. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Anyway, the Nomad Toro by Ezra Zion is a pretty good stick! The construction is good; the burn is good; the draw is good. However, I don't think it's the best cigar Ezra Zion has blended. (I think this one is better).
But the Nomad House Blend is a great cigar and earns a CigarScore 5.

The fourth and final cigar in AVO's "Unexpected" series is the AVO Unexpected Tradition. While this line from AVO is surrounded by scandal and deception, I did not know about it whenever I set any of the cigar aflame for review. (I'll explain the deception at the bottom of the post).
I reviewed both the Unexpected Celebration, and the Unexpected Passion, but didn't review the Unexpected Moment because I was enjoying the "moment" with a great friend who came in town.
The AVO Unexpected Tradition is chock full of undisclosed tobacco. However, AVO did reveal that there is a rare Peruvian tobacco that's in the filler.
The wrapper is medium in color and has a vein snaking through it. After lighting the stick, on the cold draw, I got hints of grass and citrus.

AVO "Unexpected Deception" Explained:
Long story short, when AVO release four new cigars at IPCPR 2019, they touted them as new, exotic, limited edition, and somewhat mysterious. Retailers sold them as such, and thousands of buyers (like me) took an opportunity to grab a new and rare stick from a reputable company.
Then, on December 6th, 2019, in this interview, it was revealed that the AVO Unexpected Celebration/Passion/Moment/Tradition were not, in fact, new, exotic, or any other word. They were in fact cigars that were selling poorly which had been rebranded in an attempt to boost sales.
Final Thoughts:
As I wrapped up the cigar, I couldn't quite say I was eager to smoke another one. The AVO Unexpected Tradition had a perfect draw and a perfect burn, but I didn't love the flavors.
While there was a lot going well for the cigar, I just wouldn't go out of my way to tell you about it. That said, our palates might be different. Therefore the AVO Unexpected Tradition earns a CigarScore 4.
