Tim Noakes played a significant role in my decision to lower my carbohydrate intake and to increase my saturated fat intake. As a result, for the last few years I haven’t taken any prescription drugs for my anxiety and acid reflux. I have replaced the pills with an improved diet, barbell training and more sunshine. And I am far healthier now, mentally and physically. The establishment doesn’t want you to be healthy. The pharmaceutical industry wants you to be dependant on drugs; the media wants you to celebrate obesity; and the government wants to feed you the world’s worst dietary advice. Anthony Chaffee is a doctor with a great YouTube channel focused on eating carnivorously. Dr Anthony Chaffee is an American medical doctor and Neurosurgical resident who, over a span of 20+ years, has researched the optimal nutrition for human performance and health. It is his assertion that most of the so-called chronic diseases we treat as doctors are caused by the food we eat, or don’t eat, and can be reversed with dietary changes to a species specific diet. His talk called Plants Are Trying To Kill You is particularly good and the foundation of his conversation with me in which he explained why eating fruit and vegetables is not optimal and often toxic. Firstly, meat is an excellent sources of complete proteins, containing all the essential amino acids necessary for the human body. Animal proteins are readily absorbed and utilised by our body. Secondly, animal sources provide key nutrients that are either lacking or poorly absorbed from plant-based alternatives. For example, Vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal products and is essential for brain function and the formation of red blood cells. Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly DHA and EPA, are abundant in fatty fish and are crucial for brain development, reducing inflammation, and maintaining heart health. While some plant sources contain ALA, the conversion to DHA and EPA is inefficient in our bodies. Plant-based diets require supplementation while carnivore diets don’t. Moreover, a carnivore diet eliminates potential allergens and anti-nutrients found in many plant foods. Certain individuals may experience sensitivities or allergies to common plant-based foods such as gluten, soy, or legumes. Lastly, there is growing evidence that suggests the carnivore diet can have positive effects on various health conditions such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, autoimmune disorders, and mental health.
