I've been testing out the amazing "RPCS3 Emulator" which allows you to play some Playstation 3 games in Linux. It is pretty cool and well worth checking out. Here is the link: https://rpcs3.net/ Normally, you have to double-click on AppImages to launch them, but with this guide I'll show you how to create a ".desktop" file, so you can launch them like you would any other program and also add them to your dock. First, I created a special folder in my "Home" folder where all my Appimages live. It is named "AppImages", (although you could name this to whatever you wish). If you want the folder hidden just enter a period at the start of the folder name. Example ".appimages" You can view hidden files in your Linux Home folder by pressing "Ctrl H" in your file manager. How to: On the RPCS3 downloads page you'll see that the Linux download is an AppImage. So we'll use this for our demo. 1. First download the RPCS3 Appimage from the downloads page. 2. Once saved, move the file from the Downloads folder to you new "AppImages" folder in Home. 3. Right click on the RPCS3 Appimage and set "Allow this file to run as a program" in the "Permissions" tab. To get it to show up in your launcher menus or have it as shortcut to use in your dock, you first need to create a ".desktop" file that points to the location of the Appimage. These are located in "/home/your username/.local/share/applications/" and end with the suffix ".desktop". You can create these files with any text editor of choice. Open a text editor and enter the following, replacing "your username here" with the name of your login. * [Desktop Entry] * Type=Application * Name=RPCS3 * Comment=RPCS3 * Icon=/home/your username here/.images/ps3.png * Exec=/home/your username here/AppImages/rpcs3.AppImage * Terminal=false * Catagories=Games Where you see "rpcs3.AppImage" in my example above, replace that with the full name and location of the one you downloaded. You will also see that in the "Icon" entry, I have it pointing to a PS3 icon image which I downloaded from the internet. You can provide any image file here, but try to keep the image file size small. Save your new file as "RPCS3.desktop" Once the file is saved, you should now be able to search for "RPCS3" in your launcher. If you use a dock ("Plank" or "Docky") you can now pin the icon to it once the app is launched. #gaming #linux #emulation #appimage #guide

How to install "The Sims 4" in "Lutris" using "d9vk". I've been playing it since it was free on Origin. It works amazingly well on Linux. To manually install the latest (09-07-2019) "d9vk" to "Lutris", 1. Get "d9vk" here: https://github.com/Joshua-Ashton/d9vk/releases/download/0.13/d9vk-0.13.tar.gz 2. Save the file, right click and extract it. 3. Install "Lutris", https://lutris.net/downloads/ 4. Copy the "d9vk-0.13" folder into "/home//.local/share/lutris/runtime/dxvk" 5. Run "Lutris" and search for "The Sims 4 d9vk" installer and install. 6. Right click on the "The Sims 4" banner image, in the "Runner Options" tab, check "tkg-protonified-3.21-x86_64" or "ge-protonified-4.10-x86_64" is selected (other WINE bottles may work too but I haven't tested them). 7. Enable "DXVK" and in "DXVK version" string - enter the name of the d9vk folder you previously copied to the Lutris folder "d9vk-0.13". 8.
