If you follow me on instagram, you know all the images are a few months old .... I'm not ready to give a today today fitness progress update. Anywho, several people have reached out to check up on me because the number of homestead videos i normally upload per week has decreased greatly. So I wanted to do a quick update with whats been happening lately, show some older fitness journey updates, tell you why there are less videos, and provide an awesome healthy protein shake recipe that i start every morning with post-cancer. Hope you enjoy. As always, God bless you, god bless your families, god bless your homesteads!

every year in the spring, for as far back as i can remember, the first head of cabbage harvested from the vegetable garden, which is usually almost always harvested a little early/prematurely, always gets this tradition. I meet so many people who have never experienced this simple 3 ingredient recipe and, stealing a biden trick "if you've never had this recipe, you can't call yourself 'country'"

where are the morel mushrooms? i have spent a little time about every day for the past 2-3 weeks once ground soil temperature was about right for morel mushrooms to start popping up but so far nothing. Since I wasn't finding anything in my normal honey holes, I started branching out to some other areas. I love this time of year in the woods before all the vegetation grows and its hard to get around. You often get to see things you wouldn't notice otherwise, like a cluster of trees woodpeckers appear to be trying for years to bring down but the trees are still standing as if they are resisting their demise. I also ran across remains, bones i suspect are from a young deer from the size of the ribs and spinal cord but the head and skull seems too small. Maybe it's a dog or maybe its bones from multiple animals. And the woods aren't always full of death and destruction. They also harbor life, like the eastern box turtle that can only travel about 75 yards per day or the pawpaw tree blooms or the vegetation slowly starting to emerge as spring sprung. Get outside and see what you can find.
